    Pros

Great Bank to learn all the moving parts of a financial institution. Very willing to listen to employees before making critical decisions.

    Cons

The bank is going through a merger. Hard to get a pay raise and small bumps are all that can be expected during performance reviews. A lot of uncertainty in the coming months.

    Pros

Growth, Good team and good experienced leadership with years in banking and similar roles. This is a great place to work but is currently undergoing a merger.

    Cons

Mergers are the norm when you work in banking unfortunately and that part has not been great for me. Otherwise great place to work

    Management

    Pros

Relaxed with no micromanagement. Employees are great to work with. Time off is spectacular. Definitely no big bank mentality.....yet. Family oriented.

    Cons

401k match below industry standard. Grew too fast and were bought by another mid-sized bank. Other benefits are so so.

Not a Place I Want To Work

    Pros

Good vacation package and the employee account package is good. Life insurance and dental is good. Nice people to work with in the branches. The help on the phone to retail operations support is friendly.

    Cons

Pretty disorganized at least in Richmond. Short staffed because people keep quitting. Health insurance is pretty bad and hard on people with kids. Customers pay a lot of fees. You have to deal with angry customers a lot. Sales goals are high and includes cold calling. No bonuses for checking accounts referrals. The computer system that is used is outdated. The bank does not really support career development, hires outside the bank, and not a lot of mobility to move or train for other positions. Senior management is dismissive about low morale.

    Pros

I loved seeing and talking to different people all day. The Commercial Clients were great people and the bank branches are full of helpful and amazing people.

    Cons

My Courier job was eliminated when Park Sterling merged with the bank I was employed by. Park Sterling management was not as personable as the previous bank management.

    Pros

    - PTO, even for part-time! - The customers are like your second family. - Your team is there to help you every step of the way. - Incredible advancement opportunities.

    Cons

    - Training period should be improved, only one week of learning the ropes is given. It should be at least two weeks before you start the actual work.
