I worked at Pandora Media, LLC full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Training and resources galore. Highly intelligent people.

    Cons

New Sirius XM ownership has changed some of Pandora's culture. Too soon to tell if it's for the better.

I have been working at Pandora Media, LLC full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Always have an underdog mentality because you are the myspace of music.

    Cons

Everything throughout the interview process and on-boarding was an outright lie. All depts are being slashed and your available resources crumble or are being outsourced. Ridiculous quotas that make no sense and rolled out midway through the quarter. You will constantly be lied to about commission and told "we're working to get this figured out". Don't worry I'll save you the suspense--it won't. You will be the voice to all your clients of why campaigns are underdelivering and you have to fall on the sword everytime or you're just cutting off your nose to spite your face. I can't recommend enough do not waste your time here.

I worked at Pandora Media, LLC full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Immediate colleagues are great to work with Office is well stocked with snacks Work-life balance is just ok depending on if your manager likes you You are an hourly employee and they are ok with you logging overtime which semi makes up for the serious discrepancy in salary compared to similar sales jobs in the Bay Area.

    Cons

Speaking for the Oakland sales team specifically and noting this because sales often felt like working for a completely different company from any other department. The role of account executive changed drastically in my time at Pandora partially due to three consecutive years of layoffs which affected senior management and strategy (especially in 2018). The new management from the start was clearly there to eliminate the Oakland sales team in favor of less expensive labor options in the form of MarketStar for lead gen and a junior AE team in Atlanta. The culture completely changed as people left in droves and new management continued making the job harder through poor decisions and slashing perks. Opportunity for advancement within the team became nonexistent unless you were willing to relocate to ATL and take a pay cut. It's really a shame since Pandora was a great place to work for years despite murky goaling practices, outdated sales tools, obvious favoritism, and unreported HR violations.

I have been working at Pandora Media, LLC full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

-lax schedule -food (bagels, monthly pizza + cake, first Friday of the month cupcakes) -flowing booze (beer on tap, meetings with wine) -stock/annual bonus (better than nothing)

    Cons

-Office politics galore, not about how well you perform, be buddies with the guys on top and you’ll get rewarded. -late reaction to market demands. We’re not innovators. -Seperation between executive-senior managers from daily work. A “get it done—no questions” toxic environment. -lack of diversity. Very few women and people of color in leadership roles.

    Pros

    Great company, awesome culture.

    Cons

Sales comp plan doesn't motivate sellers and has a cap bonus structure. No incentive for veteran sales people, and new sellers coming into the company are making more money. There is no reason to stay at Pandora long term. Goals are getting higher and you make less money the longer you are here. Makes no sense.

I have been working at Pandora Media, LLC full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fun work environment with great people! Great management (for the most part) who care about employees. The executive leadership team is extremely approachable and they provide a very good amount of transparency into the company strategy and where things are headed.

    Cons

Doesn't innovate as quickly as it should. The company needs to make a louder statement in the media and music industry to keep up with competition.

    Pros

Great Culture and Employee Resource Groups. Fantastic Founder who is accessible to have lunch with employees on a regular basis. Teams get together pretty regularly to build comradery,

    Cons

Ad technology is not meeting market demands. Pandora has to do a better job of recruiting and retaining quality engineers to build out ad product solutions.

I worked at Pandora Media, LLC full-time

    Pros

Cool culture, you definitely feel like you are part of something cool.

    Cons

Report after report after report.......tedious processes that take up so much time that getting a sale becomes deflated. Make a salesperson's job easier, not harder.....they will then do everything for the company aka generate massive revenue. Roadblock after roadblock takes the wind out of a salesperson's sails.
