I have been working at PageGroup full-time

    Pros

The PG Dublin office is growing and there are lots of opportunities for you to take control of your own destiny. There is also lots of experience in the room and everyone shares similar goals. Anyone capable of managing their own time while getting results is given great autonomy and flexibility. The training is recognised as some of the best in the industry and you get lots of exposure to the wider business outside of Ireland. The organic culture means that you can progress based on revenue targets regardless of your age/hours worked etc. Depending on an individuals preference there are opportunities to manage people or become a senior individual revenue contributor and focus on your personal ambitions (bonuses, responsibility etc). As a multinational business, there are many examples of successful recruiters joining other PG offices around the world. At least a third of the current team have international recruitment experience.

    Cons

Similar to other businesses within the industry, the team work long hours. However, the model is focused on results/output and there are plenty of employees who manage their time effectively to ensure a healthy balance of work and family time.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management would be to ensure that the business continues to move with the times. Recruitment has an old school feel to it as an industry and PG management must ensure the company stays with the times! Overall, you must be capable of getting results but PG Dublin is a great place to work if you want autonomy, career progression and a social environment.

    Pros

If your good, there is fantastic career advancement opportunities They are still growing and promote organic growth from within Fantastic training and life experience, you are essentially running your own desk which you are wholly responsible for No commission, quarterly bonuses

    Cons

Expectation is very high. Stressful, long working hours. Bonus can be calculated questionably at times. Fully responsible for your own market

    Advice to Management

Work out the bonus scheme in a more clear cut way. Provide some flexibility to employees who deserve it

I worked at PageGroup full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The company is fantastic when you start, the training is second to none and really helps you start from the ground up with no experience in recruitment whatsoever. It's a good step in the right direction for recruitment however the big corporate company won't be for everyone. Great people for the most part, genuine and supportive however many are overshadowed by the toxic. (continued in cons) Social activities are fantastic. A huge, historical database of Clients and Candidates to help build your desk.

    Cons

Encouragement from Line Management AND above to lie about Candidates, jobs etc. to gain leads, jobs on - I understand this is a sales role and there's a lot of competition but a 'do what you have to do' culture is definitely very evident here. Step over anyone and everyone you have to to get to the top. This could be appealing to some but I would avoid if you're not just in it for the money and would like a rewarding job that's not just financial. Money is everything for the company, but you'll take home peanuts. Niche desks with unrealistic targets. Also unclear targets however at interview the 'open and honest targets' were discussed. Long hours - 8:30am - 6pm plus working past this to hit targets. No work/life balance whatsoever, not even 30 mins if you make it up elsewhere. No flexibility and no understanding of the importance of this. A toxic culture under the surface - majority of people out for themselves and themselves only. Snaking behavior from other offices and departments. Benefits package isn't clear and hardly promoted? Performance often measured by quantity rather than quality.

    Advice to Management

Look after your staff and their well-being and the long hours, low salaries and significant effort they make for you will be justified.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at PageGroup full-time for more than a year

    Pros

-good and through training when you first start -HR is very helpful however not physically in Toronto office -good benefits

    Cons

-long hours 8am-6pm (which they don't tell you before you start and it isn't in your contract) -high turnover -unnecessarily stressful environment even when you are one of the top billers, they will always make you feel like you are not doing enough - to the point I saw employees having anxiety/crying in the bathrooms -disrespectful exit interview - I've been told that they are disappointed in me multiple times even though I've done good for for them compared to most of their employees -they take proud in being a sales company however there is not a commission structure and they are called "discretionary bonus" which gets paid quarterly, a month after each quarter ends however they are not guaranteed and you would have to bill big amounts to be eligible in the first place -cheap office, no team-building other than playing beer pong -Management does not invest in their consultants well-being, success and happiness, and doesn't seem to realize that a happy employee will be more successful and efficient. Management's only priority is revenue. (I copy pasted this from a previous review as it is 100% accurate)

I worked at PageGroup full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fun coworkers, scripts to follow that help with training, clear promotions, growing office

    Cons

Even the highest performing people quit because unrealistic expectations (extremely long hours that you don't get paid for). Management always wants more, so easy to get burnt out. Bad bonus structure (high minimum placement fees needed to get the bonus and when you are eligible for bonus, you only get a small % of what your heard work earned - GREEDY COMPANY!). Management/Directors sleeping with their staff. Very sexist inappropriate comments from high level management. Everyone I know who has left is so much happier now.

I worked at PageGroup full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I had a fantastic 4 years here. Great career trajectory and you have tangible targets to get promoted. Met some life long friends. Pay is very good. This was my first corporate role and its great they give opportunities to those with no/limited experience. Some fantastic incentives - went on two 5 star rewards trips in Asia.

    Cons

Pretty long working hours, though flexibility was being introduced when I left. ´Phone time´ was a ridiculous KPI which made no sense when measuring results. Because everyone starts at the bottom, certain senior members have spent their entire career here, meaning they are quite tunnel-visioned. There is some bad blood when you leave which is unnecessary, in particular from the MD.

    Advice to Management

Hire some talent at Director level to give the company another perspective. More benefits would be good to keep up with the market. If someone resigns, don´t pretend they never existed.
