I have been working at Optus full-time for less than a year

    Pros

As part of the 2020 Optus graduate program, the company endeavoured to accommodate its new grads through covid. Flexible WFH, plenty of resources for people to upskill.

    Cons

learning curve is massive and you may feel like you're completely ill-equipped, but there is a very good understanding in management about what they expect from you.

I worked at Optus full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Diversity inclusive, work life balance, awesome perks

    Cons

Optus followed the outsourcing trend and outsourced a lot of functions which had caused clashes between departments. It is quite often that 'left hand doesn't know what's right hand is doing'. it is also because of that, alot of un-necessary processes were created. E.g., When I contacted the IT support for a very simple request, it could take days for them resolve it as different IT support teams responsible for resolving different IT problems.

Former Employee - Kareen in Canberra

    I worked at Optus full-time

    Pros

Some excellent managers - but they are slowly being weeded out and moved on. Some great internal training (online in your own time). Discounts on some services (same as other carriers are offering) I left & feel better for it Convenient locations

    Cons

A culture of obstruction and ambiguity. Poor management at higher levels Poor service (internal & external) Lack of structure Ambiguous & conflicting directions Overworked with little reward (other than a heap of extra unpaid work) Too much dead wood in positions of responsibility
