I have been working at Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great purpose: helping secure pensions for the teachers of Ontario. The plan has a surplus, so the atmosphere is positive.

    Cons

Location: Yonge & Finch - there's not much to do in the area. But an offset is that the commute may be shorter, depending on where you live,

I worked at Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan

    Pros

    - Great people, knowledgeable and friendly - Fun company events like the Fall United Way fundraising campaign - Strong work/life balance, everyone leaves at a reasonable time, FTs have option to work from home occasionally depending on dept

    Cons

    - Location is not ideal since located at Yonge/Finch, not much to eat around there - Openings for FT are scarce

I worked at Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Work life balance Friendly culture - not as cut-throat as sell side Very interesting work Strong comp package, particularly given work life balance

    Cons

Location at Yonge and Finch / food options as a result - waste a lot of time traveling to and from downtown People making a lot of money are very "comfortable" and this comfort is institutionally entrenched. Creates a glass ceiling for up and coming high performers. Most groups are "inverted pyramids"

I have been working at Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Top performer consistently for 25 years, deep investment skills in public and private markets, and truly focused on global relationships, innovative and yet humble

    Cons

Difficult to find a lot of cons. You could argue that location (Yonge and Finch) is an issue, but the subway commute is pretty smooth

I worked at Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan for less than a year

    Pros

    1. Good work-life balance (as compared to other financial institutions) 2. Great compensation (front office pays a lot) 3. Friendly people (a good number of people eat lunch in the amazing common room)

    Cons

Location is not in downtown. It is at Yonge-Finch. It could be a pro depending on where you live. But I personally prefer a downtown location.

I have been working at Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan

    Pros

Strong work-life balance, great variety of training courses offered through HR, few attitudes to deal with, decent pay (especially for younger, less experienced people).

    Cons

Tough to move upward in the company, terrible office location (Yonge and Finch), terrible mess of IT systems in backoffice.
