I hated every minute of it

Pros

Lack of leadership, lack of honest communication

Cons

The emails sent by the executive committee were unprofessional at best. An example, if you leave your computer on and the cleaning crew looks at porn, you are responsible. All day meetings, when leadership knew they were going to sell the company. They talked about ethics, but didn't live up to the hype. I am lucky I got out.

I'm so sorry to hear that your experience with OneGuard did not meet your expectations. As the HR manager, I am in a position ti know about issues related to misuse of company systems. We have not experienced any kind of situation like the one described here. If we had, we certainly would not have held an employee accountable for the actions of a contracted, third-party vendor. Additionally, all of our employees are highly responsible and always lock or log out of the PC's at the end of their shift, or when on break or away from their workstations, in accordance with company policy, so I am certain this could not have happened. Nevertheless, if something of this nature did happen, I would have hoped that any affected team member would bring it to the attention of leadership immediately so that we could investigate and take appropriate action. We will certainly ensure that all of our employees know that this is not the kind of behavior we would ever tolerate. Following our acquisition by American Home Shield, OneGuard no longer as an executive team; However, as a former member of that team, I am privy to every email that was ever generated by that group. Though I am not aware of anything that could have been considered "unprofessional," I would be very happy to dialogue with you about any communications that you felt were not up to par. If we erred in this regard, I will happily extend an apology to you on behalf of the company's leadership. Incidentally, OneGuard does not now, and never has, had an executive "committee." The concept of committees is somewhat contrary to our corporate culture; thus, this is a word not often used in our company. Obviously I am personally biased, but I have never worked for a more ethical company in my 20+ year career.

It Really is Better Here

Pros

Have you ever worked at a company where the leaders were just a few feet away, with their doors open, joking around with the staff? Me neither. Have you ever worked at a company where you were given the freedom to do what you thought was right, without having to get permission for every little thing? Me Neither. Have you ever worked at a company where you knew if your gut that the owners were committed to being honorable, just, truthful and kind? Me neither. Have you ever worked at a company that actually fires troublemakers, instead of patting them on the head, even if they are top-performers? Me neither. OneGuard is actually the company that IS all of these things. Yes, there are Christmas parties, and free food, and fun events, and lots of rewards and perks, etc., but that's not what makes this place great. This company is the result of an unwavering commitment to beliefs and values, and that includes hiring people who have the same unwavering commitment to the same beliefs and values. The culture is NOT for everybody; those who want to gossip, nit-pick, commiserate, slack-off or infect others with negativity will not survive here, and that's just fine with me. If you want to work in a place that tries to protect you from all that garbage, you will love OneGuard.

Cons

Like any growing company, we have some growing pains. There are things I think we are "figuring out" as we go. It's really not a big deal, but sometimes we start going one direction and realize that's not actually what we want to do, and we change course. That kind of thing doesn't really bother me, but some people can't hang with that level of change. Like I said, not really a bad thing, just a fact of life. If you're looking for the refinement of processes you'd get at American Express, you won't get it here, but if you want the freedom to kind of carve your own path, you have a chance here that you would NEVER get in big-time corporate America. Yes, I know there was a recent merger, but so far nothing has changed. As long as we have the same leaders, and the same people, OneGuard will remain.
