      Avoid this company

      Pros

Good benefits plan, a nice amount of vacation days provided, catered breakfast every Monday morning, etc.

      Cons

OT recently hired a new CEO from Amazon and large changes are occurring, to the tune of 20% of the labor force being let go. In one week most of the IT Operations team from the CIO to the WINTEL team walked out the door (Jan 2019). OT knows how to spend money in all the wrong places. The company as a whole has two data centers in Dallas, one is so old that the equipment cant be placed under maintenance with any of the manufacturers. The other was deployed with different technologies so the two data centers can't sync data properly. Its a company full of DB and Agile people and none have a clue about the back-end solutions, and the management team is clueless as well. On the surface it looks like a great company, under the hood they have a ton of internal issues. They have built a culture around people trying to be so nice to each other that when a real " just fix it" conversation comes along people have their feelings hurt when you give them the direct answer to their questions. Finally, hope you like to play nice and be fake, because 25% of your review and salary raise is based on how well your peers like you. Its basically a popularity contest just like High School, only your pay is dependent upon it.

Mostly Good, But Room For Improvement

      Business Outlook

      Pros

I've been at OT almost a year, and for the most part it's been a very positive experience. The culture is laidback, hours are flexible, and most of the employees are pleasant and easy to get along with. We get a week off at Christmas (paid) and there are company trips, which are not guaranteed but seem to take place every year or so. If you get into a good deparment, you will enjoy your job.

      Cons

There is currently a major issue at the company and employees have basically been shut out of what's going on; sweeping this problem under the rug has made the people who were affected angry and resentful. As mentioned in other reviews, the vacation policy for the first few years of tenure is below average. If you have a bad manager, you are sunk -- many people have left the company because of issues with their boss.

      Pros

Let me start by saying I've been here for 3 months and I am not in "HR". My impression of OT so far has been that it's an excellent company to work for! Here are some of the highlights thus far: 1. The company is taking me and my spouse to Costa Rica for 5 days! Yes, that's right, free airfare, free food, and the hotel is free! What companies do this??? Unbelievable!!! 2. The onboarding process which involves having 16 different meetings with different departments to better understand how the company works and how you interact with the different departments is fantastic! 3. The culture of people being kind, respectful and courteous to everyone all the time is wonderful. 4. Fun work environment, i.e. costume parties, field day, ping pong table, basketball, a week off at the Holidays, free gym membership, and even air hockey! 5. Great benefits like free medical, dental, and vision to the employee! What companies have that!???? Great matching 401k, plus a Roth IRA and there's no vesting! Most companies have a 3 to 5 year vesting plan.

      Cons

None, thus far. Owe, wait, the free donuts and bagels every Monday might make me gain weight!!

      Too Many Cons!

      Pros

The majority of the people are wonderful to work with. Owner is very charismatic. Trips are nice, but they call them annual trips when they actually happen every 18 months to 2 years.

      Cons

Those that work or have worked at OT will understand the double meaning in the title of this review. Thier customer focused mantra does not match thier "make a quick buck by any means necessary" actions. The product is significantly sub-par in the industry and therefore relies on the ignorance and forgetfulness of customers to achieve a profit. It doesn't take long to realize you are working in a place you can't feel good about and the consistant talk about improving is just that - talk. Entire innovation model depends on the owner's next bright idea, as that will be the only idea he will back and the only idea his "yes" men will get behind.

A company where the hardwork is appreciated

      Business Outlook

      Pros

The leadership at One Technologies in general is very thoughtful about employees who contribute to the growth of the company. They provide resources and time to improve process and quality. The culture at OT lead you to believe that everyone works together as a family. Everyone respect each other greatly and share the challenges of day to day lives. The quarterly life-skills training help you succeed in the OT culture and is an asset to anyone's career. One Technologies is family friendly and provide the greatest benefit of work-life balance.

      Cons

One Technologies has a team culture, so individuals who have ego may not survive longer. The changing marketing conditions can kill an idea that you want to implement, and being bitter against others for that matter can also lead to the same outcome. Don't get caught up in the great perks (ping pong, Monday free bagels, cakes, company trip) the company provide and forget about the productivity.

Awesome Work Culture, Talented Co-Workers and Thoughtful, Experienced Leadership

      Pros

Along with a newly instituted very fair bonus structure and the best medical, dental, disability and life benefits you will find anywhere, this company has a long-standing, true commitment to charity allowing all employees a half day each quarter to work at local charities, a truly caring and encouraging HR department, and an incredible, supportive leadership team. The company culture is just as important and inclusive. There is Lunch Lotto each month where all employees are randomly selected in groups of 5 to go to lunch and the company pays for it! OT also has a dedicated Culture Committee that sets amazing events such as cook offs, quarterly Trivia and Pizza lunches, the most competitive internal miniature golf games and holiday parties, to name only a few. All-in-all, at One Tech, going to work each day and being surrounded by talented, intelligent and happy people is a joy.

      Cons

I wish I had something to add here, but I don't.

I know I Help People Working Here - Great Place to Work

      Pros

One Technologies is a great place to work. I have been at OT for some time. Yes, we have great benefits such as health, dental and 401K matching and yes, the company is committed to providing great work/life balance, but just as important the company, including the owners and senior management, are committed to helping customers understand their credit with free, live and unlimited call in support (no competitor offers that), the importance of building and maintaining their credit health and preventing identity theft. And this place NEVER sells customer info unlike competitors--this company is not out to scam consumers or take their money and provide little to no value. These reasons are why I stay.

      Cons

The company culture here is very important, Make sure you fit in and are comfortable with a company-wide open door policy with few to no walls separating everyone or you will not last.

It's stories like this that often times make people question OTs morals.

      Pros

Very unique culture not seen in most companies. Benefits are impeccable. I worked for OT for...let's just say a LONG TIME. Most people don’t get anywhere near my tenure. I was a very proud employee and had no desire to leave. I wasn't super popular there but I had no arguments, enemies, got along with and knew almost everyone and my time there and relationships were positive including with HR who's apparently getting hammered in some Glassdoor reviews. The only trouble I had was with one person who left the company 5 years earlier and they ended up looking like the jerk. My culture score was average even though I hated the idea. I did try to be positive about it by participating in discussions with the CEO on how to improve it. I would have stayed there indefinitely. So, how does a proud OT Manager get the boot?

      Cons

Simply by hiring new management (directors/ VPs) and empire building. I'm not going to go into details here. I could do so by describing specific activities and quotes and the names would be known and it wouldn't surprise anyone. But we were let go and the newly promoted person brought in some friend(s). The sexists and insulting things this person told me in 1 on 1 situations were just wrong and they couldn't get me to laugh or agree. I think this insecure person just couldn't relate to, bully or control some of their newly inherited direct reports, all of who were long timers and just decided to cut off the heads of chickens to becomes the most tenured leader. So, get rid of the longest tenured and make it mine kind of attitude. We were the stronger personalities of the department. You can't have that when you need to own it all. It was painful to see these people let go because they just didn't deserve it. They were proud OT employees and always got better than average performance reviews with all of their managers (not just 1) and even had high culture scores. The lack of questioning and intervention by HR over these moves hurt the most especially considering my relationship with them. Any areas of improvement for any of us are completely workable by any leader worth a damn. But in the end, they didn't give a crap. So, when some folks get shamed on these reviews, I do feel a sense of selfish schadenfreude. I can be man enough and say I could have been more positive about some changes that were taking places. The problem is when new people come in and say how much of what we do and have done over years is crap and how everyone is wrong and how they are going to fix it, that doesn't give someone like me a positive feeling and desire to present their ideas positively or even more importantly come up with great ideas myself to make them look good. We did things the way we did as sanctioned by previous executives and budget. I didn't go around dumping on all of their new ideas after they arrived but carrying a rah-rah attitude about them was a bubble they burst for me earlier after their repeated negative verbal vomit. Good luck to those friendlies that are still there with whom I worked with. I think of you often and hope the best for you. I am now at peace...

      Management isn't good

      16 May 2018 - Anonymous Employee

      Business Outlook

      Pros

The culture at One Technologies is generally pretty good but it used to be better than it is now. They have no cubicles and it's always casual dress and they even allow remote work one day each week. The regular employees (non-management) are all pretty good and easy to get along with.

      Cons

Management doesn't care about the peons. They have an app that the owner of the company originally designed that they call CIG (I don't remember what it stands for). What the company does is once a year they have the employees go through this app and give a grade (A, B, C, etc) to each and every employee in the company. They then use this grade to determine things like raises and they use it in your performance evaluations. The problem is hardly any of the employees like this idea and so I personally know a lot of people that give one letter grade to everybody in the company no matter what so no matter what the grade you ultimately end up with when it's done each year is not truly reflective of the type of person you are. It's a farce. They do have a remote work policy but management had to be talked in to it and when they finally reluctantly did allow it they only allowed one day a week. The problem is that day cannot be on a Monday or a Friday because it makes the employees that have positions that cannot be done remotely feel that the person that's working remotely gets an extended weeked. A lot of times management will say they're following up on a concern you have or a complaint you've registered but then you never hear anything back from them. Even though office politics are a part of every company, it's a hundred times worse at OT with the management they currently have. It didn't use to be that way.

      Pros

Great culture, lots of freedom, benefits are good for a small company. they truly believe in work life balance. most companies talk about it but OT really lives it. i seldom work late or at home and it isn't frowned upon.

      Cons

trying to get out of the way of company growth. they will either push through or have to get back down to a size where senior leadership can still be involved in the day-to-day. the open environment can be a positive and a negative.
