I have been working at Office Shoes part-time

    Pros

Great environment - working people as a team. Almost like a family.

    Cons

Pay should be reviewed once a person is there after 6 months (especially a supervisor and above). Pay is not good - pay between supervisors and sales assistant very little. Cutting down on incentives for employees to stay.

    Advice to Management

Pay rise for those who deserve it. Supervisors, Assistant Managers etc. moving to bigger stores etc should get better pay, i.e. more responsibility should come with better pay and benefits. Company should focus on the staff they have, and nurture them for future higher positions. Entice people to stay.

I worked at Office Shoes full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - They generally hire fun people, therefore its fun to work there. - Free shoes (staff shoes every so often) - Training provided

    Cons

    - Pay is poor - Conditions are bad (small canteen, no air con in stock room) - No progression path

    Advice to Management

There should be a progression path, if you work hard, hit targets, there should be an opportunity to move up.

I worked at Office Shoes full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

When I first started, all of the people were amazing to work with. The commission was half decent Wear whatever clothes you want Good discounts on shoes Free pair of shoes every couple of months

    Cons

No recognition of achievements whatsoever No progression chances Poor management Poor base pay Poor working conditions, ie staff room too small, stock room too hot.

    Advice to Management

Recognition for doing well would go a long way to help keep staff happy. Giving staff a chance to progress. Ensuring that managers are hired because of their ability to manage. There is a high turnover of staff for a reason.

I worked at Office Shoes part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great staff, discount, flexible in terms of swapping shifts, free shoes, commission

    Cons

Managers are on and off and how your shift goes can depend on their mood, very physical job, low pay for hard work, no room for progression, sometimes made to cover in other stores, it's either really quiet with nothing to do or very busy and understaffed
