    Pros

    Good benefits, decent pay (depending on your manager AND when you got hired), good DB benefit, ability to work from home (depending on your division)

    Cons

    - Used to be a great company to work for, every since the new CEO took over, everything went downhill slowly but surely - Slowly shaved off the paid time off/ omers days - Reducing benefit package - Changing culture to focus just on outside appearance and no substance - Ability for upper management to brush off failures in implementing new pension system and sugar coat it as setting up a 'foundation' for the future (what a joke) - Upper management / C suite is all talk and not accountable for their wrong doings. Their work ethics are questionable at best. - Excellent learning grounds for true professionals (workers who actually wanted to do things right and work hard) on what not to do - So called Directors/ VPs/ SVPs who are not 'leaders' but 'talkers only'. Initiated projects that have no substance - Look at the org charts, and you will see there are so many VPs and Directors with no subordinates. Good way to earn retirement dough from the poor pensioners who contributed - Nepotism at its best - Ideal place for some potential/current employees who wanted to hide his/her lack of working knowledge by joining events/committees that are initiated by the VP/ SVP. You're immune to bad performance reviews/ layoffs once you join the club. Just play politics and do minimum work (or just pretend that you know), you'll be fine - do this at your own risk and only if your conscience allows you to do so. There are some people (including Directors) who failed so many times, yet the person is still there -> Great real life example of just talking and do not admit mistakes, and you'll be rewarded greatly!

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good job and hire more SVPs, VPs, and Director levels! They are your best asset! The rest is just workers that you don't care (but acted like you care). Every organization has a DNA, and OMERS' DNA had become very rotten, focusing only on the outside/ image, but inside, it has no substance. All in all, Management is doing a disservice to OMERS members.

    Good benefits in particular holidays.

    Cons

    The “Peter Principle” in full effect. Good talent in the Director roles and below. Horrible senior leadership team, especially the Investment team leadership. Ego’s and politics are in huge play masking massive insecurity and incompetent investment skills. They treat junior staff with complete disrespect. Its a real shame given the importance of a pension fund to its pensioners.

    Advice is really to the board to shake up management with new and inspired leadership from the top down.

    Pros

    Good culture, great colleagues, good benefits. Can't really think of anything else to write here. Great location and work environment.

    Cons

    Not much room for growth, promotions rarely happen, human resources are useless. Training courses are not provided although there is a budget for it. Expectation is that you learn on your own even if or when a new technology is introduced into the company while you manage it on daily basis. Company benefits are well kept secrets unless you hear it from others and ask for them. No performance reviews!!!! You work for a person not a company. Management in some areas is poor. Blame culture at managerial level. Lack of ownership and responsibility.

    - Good benefits - Good pay - Great coworkers - Other than that, I can honestly say that I can't find any other good thing about this company.

    Cons

    - Toxic environment - Upper management is incompetent - No room to grow or move within the company - Lack of communication within different departments - Managers tend to use passive/aggressive methods to push people out

    Advice to Management

    Show some honest appreciation to the people that work so hard to make you look good. Don't be a bully. Be more innovative and more open to new up to date management styles.
