I worked at Northern Trust full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Health insurance The location WFH possibilities Gym when not in pandemic

    Cons

In house systems constantly crash I needed health insurance just to get by in this job. Pay is low and overtime is heavily discouraged... (work must be completed) Training was good from some trainers and incredibly flippant from others. Felt poorly treated daily. Politics amongst management is the game. Most of the team are often still working at 7pm regularly and later sometimes. Management heads home before COB even at months-end leaving all the work and ad-hoc issues to analysts. Forward on from October 2019 to 9 months later, 80% of analysts on my team had departed, at least one with no alternative job to go to. Need to be a self starter as there is a high chance you won't be trained fairly. If self-starter, go to big four for an accounting/graduate role and look at finance later in your career. No team building. No good mornings, no positive feedback, nothing like this existed on my team. No positivity period, from local management. It's not enough that the only positive words you will ever hear are coming from Dublin management. It doesn't make up for the approach i experienced in Limerick.
