Amazing culture and great people. Very good for internal movement.

Pros
Fair compensation, collaborative environment, great people, investment in diversity programs and education.

Great individual contributors, but engineering leadership is lacking
17 Jul 2019 - Senior Software Engineer in San Francisco, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
AdRoll had great people and nice culture. I made good friends there, and I learned a lot. The office team is fantastic and is doing a lot to make people have a good time. The people team was making visible efforts to offer better benefits over time. AdRoll Gives Back is really great and a good example of the nice and "do good" culture over there.
Cons
Engineering leadership is lacking. The leadership thinks they have things under control but they aren't doing much to help individuals grow. They say they do, but in practice, they don't. That manifests itself by ignored contributions and lack of feedback. There are many great engineers working there though. It's just the engineering organization as a whole that is not well set up to make sure everyone levels up. Also, most everyone in the company gets some kind of bonus (from salespeople for whom it's definitely normal and common to office managers and support), but the engineering leadership is against bonuses for engineers, even though engineering managers have them.

"Work hard, play hard" environment in a great market with very bright management and peers
10 Aug 2012 - Brand Solutions (Inside Sales) in San Francisco, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Flexibility = complete - Cutting-edge technology, easy to sell - Earning Potential is strong - Wide-open market - Cool culture with great people - Collaborative - Creativity is encouraged - Trustworthy company + respectful
Cons
- You may absorb many responsibilities with one position (it's a startup) this can be tough - tons of work to do and you will have to figure much of it out yourself - Location (Mission & 6th) - although a nice office inside - Lower Base Salary - takes some time to ramp up - Won't get much "sales training" - so bring your sales skills (you will get product and industry training)

It's Fast Paced, You'll Learn a Ton, and Work with Great People
23 Oct 2015 - Sales in San Francisco, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Similar to someone else's sentiment, the negative reviews of late have got me fired up. It's sad to see them, because I feel quite differently. AdRoll is a special place --- yes, the market, culture, and expectations have changed over the years I've been here. But the approach hasn't. Great people, great leadership, great value remains. I think some people don't understand that --- thinking about the legacy way of doing things doesn't mean the new way is better or worse...it's just different. Yes, we've had some turnover of late. The vast majority of that has been people that haven't been pulling weight. No one wants to say that. Our industry is too competitive, our market too dynamic, and we're still a growth company. That means you have to work. The management team has done a great job making changes (we're having some of our best quarters in terms of performance) --- but those changes haven't always been easy. Change is hard. The leadership team takes an honest approach, communicates them well, and actually cares. It's sad to see that some people can't see that. I for one, am happier today at AdRoll. I have a team that I trust in, and work with people that want to be here. It's not perfect, but I have a manager that cares, a leadership team that I have relationships and trust with, and I feel supported, pushed, and have opportunities for personal and professional growth (this past week we posted internal openings for roles in Dublin, Sydney, and Tokyo). Anyway, I felt the need to chime in here. The place is great. Smart people, awesome leadership (open, communicate well, care), the comp plan is lucrative for people that perform (as any plan should be). I don't feel like I come to work every day, I come to almost a second home.
Cons
We change things a lot. The pace of business and work is fast. At times it's hard, but it pushes you outside your comfort zone. This isn't the place to show up and wait to vest. You won't find those people here --- or they were here and left. The people today care. They want to be great in their roles, they want to learn, and they want to help the person next to them. The office location isn't the best, but I personally haven't had any issues. We're centrally located to off the grid, and the mall, and BlueBottle / Union Square so there are some perks to it. There's plenty of shuttle stops / public transportation to make things easy for commuters, etc. Yes, I don't get free lunch but I don't mind having options!
