I have been working at Navigant full-time for less than a year

    Pros

They hire from very diverse/different backgrounds (teachers, lawyers, bankers, sales, IT), plus, top performers straight out of school (mostly with a graduate degree). Most employees speak more than one language and have interesting experiences. The company assigns mentors to new hires, cleverly adjusting mentors' performance expectations to allow time for this critical activity. Mentors are volunteering for this... role and most are really supportive and great at their own jobs. Culture is very supportive/caring and constantly thinking about the mission that the company is driving (in my case, it is fighting financial crimes). The culture is also transparent with work-specific and company issues discussed openly during lunch breaks. Senior executives are also very approachable - they do periodic meet & greet for all employees. The firm is well managed which comes with a tight performance review culture. The management is adept at sizing up new hires quickly and suggesting the right project fit. Many negative reviews here are likely from people who struggled with challenging work - I know many such people personally and they were fun co-workers but couldn't manage the complexity of client requests and information analytics. Under-performing employees are given plenty of opportunities to recover and even had a chance to move to a less demanding role. But at the end of the day, fighting financial crime is an increasingly complex profession where AI/tools are playing a larger role, so this is not for everyone. In our location (NYC), we are provided with free fruits twice per week, plus, a nice selection of coffee & tea. There are regular interesting sponsored events (soul cycle, rock climbing). Finally, for high performers, the company pays for your certification and training..

    Cons

The pay for NYC is average, not complaining, just don't expect an extra generosity. They seem to sign up for too much of client work and are struggling to get the business model right which results in lower profitability - which means lower salaries, little of annual salary increase, and no bonuses unless you are the highest performing employee. It would also be nice if we could get Friday lunch and maybe a monthly... happy hour to create opportunities for employees to gel more.

    Advice to Management

Slow down growth until you are able to manage economics and hiring better. As you could see from these reviews, in your rush to grow, you are hiring too many employees who are lacking abilities for such demanding profession.

I have been working at Navigant full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

variety of project types in the core industry for someone who wants to a broad exposure to a specific industry - great learning opportunity

    Cons

    1) seems to be no real standard when hiring someone with regard to the level they come in at, or the salary 2) no clear promotional path - staffing & utilization, roles and project feedback are all based on who you know with clout will advocate for you - people who do great work may not get hours or promoted 3) very old school on-site travel requirements and lack of wlb in some segments/business units. time... for Navigant to do more than pay lip service to putting their people first

    Advice to Management

Take a good hard look at the mid-level leadership and ask yourself why good consultants are leaving in droves

I worked at Navigant part-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Pay scale is above average.

    Cons

Management has no sort of communication with their employees. Most of the staff has been there for 5+ years where favoritism and nepotism is malignant in here. Micromanagement causes problems when when their perception is not correct. Morale is at the lowest that it can never be. No room for growth and unprofessional behavior is rampant. Major problems between employees and management looks other way. Management... does not work with schedule even if hired as part time you’ll be working full time hours. Training is the absolute worst. It’s hard to go straight to HR for issues about the company when your HR Rep is BFF with management.

    Advice to Management

Better communication with employees. Work with employee for improvement rather than termination if no solution comes to mind.

I have been working at Navigant full-time for more than a year

    Pros

You could get lucky and get to wear a lot of hats - coding, implementation, project management, responding to RFPs and even engaging the client. A good way to get exposed and potentially learn a lot of different skills which is why I gave it the 2 star rating.

    Cons

Biggest problem here is - attrition. This year alone (10 months) I have seen more than 20 people leaving voluntarily. After talking to a few who were close friends - the biggest issue is senior management not caring for your career growth and haphazardly moving you between projects that do not sync up to tell a story of growth. Rather they fill 'gaps' to ensure revenue at the cost of your own growth and well-being.... Senior management have formed an 'inner circle' here where the chosen few look out for each other and the others are left in the dust. Senior management has openly admitted at an all-hands meeting to being insensitive and this callousness manifests itself downstream in the mistreatment of employees. Lack of communication, lack of guidance and direction and false promises of growth will be the downfall of this organization. They put more emphasis on what time you clock in and clock out (so much so that they have watch-guards who keep track of this) instead of paying attention to what you produce and how effectively you produce it! I came here with a ton of enthusiasm and over time they have chipped away at it and once my manager and my manager's manager and a host of other peers and friends left, I realized the problem really is senior management but they do not acknowledge it and hence things can only get worse.

    Advice to Management

Accept your flaws and enforce some much needed cultural change before you lose more employees - some of which are undeniably 'stars' that are being poached by other organizations.
