I worked at Minerals Technologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Many opportunities if you can get through the layers. Employees are hard working and dedicated to doing their jobs and willing to help others get through the chaos.

    Cons

Executive management needs training on people management. All about the bottom line. Politics and bureaucracy are a barrier. Nothing is ever good enough.

    Advice to Management

Treat your people with respect as they are your most valuable asset.

I have been working at Minerals Technologies full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The only pro is if you could get rid of the CEO who acts like a micro managing Adolf Hitler there are lots of talented people that would make a great company.

    Cons

Poor benefits, non willingness to promote from lower levels, micro management to the max, very untruthful, no transparency, unwilling to let anyone make a decision except for the CEO, safety is not #1 priority, won't pay there bills on time and the list goes on and on....

    Advice to Management

Believe in your people. Give them the freedom to act and fail. And most importantly get rid of Joe M!!!!!

"I was a former manager at a company that was purchased by MTI the first thing they did was start cutting staff"

I worked at Minerals Technologies full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The staff was more like family than coworkers and worked well as a team. Every person was always ready to assist each other when thing got hectic.

    Cons

After the MTI take over things went to hell in a hurry. 2 weeks after the buy out ,the MTI snipers set their sights on key targets taking out different positions throughout the company the result was other positions having to take on the duties of the fallen. Now the survivors are over worked and stressed because no one knows who is in the cross hairs next. Every day a mass email fills your computer monitor to... inform future targets that the casualties were not in vain as a new Manger or vice president has sprung to life at the parent company. To all those who survive congratulations and those who don't ........good luck

I have been working at Minerals Technologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good people who want to do the right thing. Recent acquisition could be a opportunity to leave the recession type mentality and grow ( they will probably mess that up too).

    Cons

CEO is a micromanager who makes ALL the decisions. The CEO lives in a pretentious environment. Middle management does not want to disclose how things really are to CEO or executive team due to retribution. The model is to cut everything except the CEO's salary which is far higher than companies five times MTI's size....and they are growing. No work/life balance.

    Advice to Management

CEO and his model need to go. One cannot successfully run a company based off a 1982 recession model.....unless success is defined as the person with the highest income wins.
