I worked at Microsoft full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Excellent engineering community, a lot of support for progressive learning, great perks, comfortable offices, flexible hours and WFH (depends on team). Naturally the experience varies across different teams / groups. Satya has truly transformed the company and there is great momentum right now. Microsoft is a force for good in the world and they really do care about earning and keeping customers' trust.

    Cons

High dependency on Redmond teams. Compensation is ok but still not as good as other tech leaders.

    Advice to Management

Make it easier to transfer internally. Open offices in more interesting locations in Europe.

I have been working at Microsoft full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

It's an excellent company, with great grown-up perks (pension, health insurance and stock) and a lot of social and sports clubs. Great place to work if you know what you want, not so much if you're starting your career and are still not so sure. Excellent culture.

    Cons

There is little 1:1 with HR. Salary reviews are not a thing unless you're a software engineer or sales, or God. No free food, not really. You don't get machine upgrades or to pick your laptop, and if you lose your mouse it's not uncommon to feel guilty for asking for a new one. Silly stuff, but the devil is in the peripherals.

    Advice to Management

    Don't be so cheap.

I have been working at Microsoft full-time for more than a year

    Pros

-Work-life balance. -Plenty of learning opportunities. -Relaxed environment. -Great facility. -Friendliness & respect rule. -Good for short stays.

    Cons

-Improperly skilled, confused and, worst, biased Middle Management. Everything goes according to managers liking. This creates a toxic environment where competent & skilled employees who are not equally good brown-nosers aren’t given the merit they deserve simply because favoritism wins. -Career development opportunities are minimal. Internal movements are totally political, the day a new job is posted (especially...

    Advice to Management

By now you may have seen how high the turnover is. And you’d received an indication of that earlier this year as a result of the company wide poll. Isn’t time to make the company a healthier place to work? Transforming the way the customer consumes IT isn't enough...

I worked at Microsoft for less than a year

    Pros

Lots of opportunities across the company to develop oneself, very caring and nurturing environment

    Cons

Lack of structure, one needs to look for projects and tasks to accomplish, the key takeaways from the internship depend from you

I have been working at Microsoft full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The culture at Microsoft (Ireland) is absolutely impressive, people are cooperative and there's a strong sense of helping each other to achieve more. Also, you are encouraged to be a 'learn it all' rather than a 'know it all', meaning you're given the time and opportunity to learn something you are passionate about and that aligns with your career goals. Microsoft Ireland acts as a EMEA HQ and so there's a high number...

    Cons

Some roles are centralised in Dublin so unfortunately you don't have the chance to take those roles from other locations in Europe.
