Pros

There is nothing good to be said about this company whatsoever. I'm glad I left when I did.

Cons

Management/Supervisor bullying is rife throughout the company. Managers use intimidation and, as I experienced, regular threats of disciplinary action which were completely unjustified and unwarranted, in relation to any difference of opinion or if there was a project delay however trivial. Favoritism, nepotism and I would definitely go as far as "cronyism" is a pandemic issue throughout the organisation. Technical support staff are treated appallingly throughout the company and are expected, and in cases demanded, to work excessive amounts of overtime - for no compensation whatsoever (monetary or time-in-lieu) - and to almost impossible and aggressive deadlines with no support/resources. The management spiel is that everything "needs to be done now!" In terms of equipment and resources for Technical staff to carry out their duties it was practically non-existent. In general, the company likes to go though the motions of "change" and "improvement " but management are completely resistant to this and uncooperative. Overall, Merit Medical left me questioning my career choice. There is also cliques among long term staff members there to the extent that all new members of staff are treated with disdain and ridicule, particularly if the new staff members are more qualified and experienced. There are also some staff members who are allowed far too much lee-way in relation to their behavior which, in any other respectable and professional company would result in their dismissal. My advice to anyone considering applying to Merit Medical is - don't!!

Pros

Relatively easy to get hired.

Cons

It is with deep concern that I write this review to share my observations of persistent issues within the company. These ongoing problems are not only causing employees to leave every month but are also making it increasingly difficult for management to replace them, a trend that the local rumor mill has vividly highlighted. I feel it is imperative to emphasize that my choice to stay anonymous is not a matter of convenience but a necessity. The fear of potential repercussions, should my identity become known, is a real concern. The workplace environment at Merit Medical is plagued by continuous breaches of procedures. This has created a situation where some employees are allowed to bend the rules while others are held to a higher standard. This double standard not only affects morale but also makes it challenging for new employees to adapt. Cultural favoritism is another troubling aspect of the company's culture, where certain individuals receive preferential treatment based on their background, while others are left feeling unsupported and unrecognized. This not only leads to high turnover but also hampers the company's ability to catch up with the trend. The management's inability to effectively address these issues is evident and contributes to the high employee turnover. The lack of clear guidance, training, and the improvised supervisory methods only exacerbate the problems rather than solving them. What's more, the low standards in behavioral norms are affecting the overall work environment, making it difficult for the company to retain and attract talent. The workplace environment at Merit Medical in Galway has an atmosphere of frequent harassment and favoritism. The poor work culture and methods within Merit Medical have taken a toll on employees' mental health, with many employees in the past having been so badly impacted by. The day-to-day bombardment on a psychological level has led to clear cases of depression among the workforce. Employees are consistently subjected to situations that chip away at their self-confidence, infringe upon their dignity, and deny them a fair and respectful work environment. These circumstances have created an atmosphere of stress and anxiety that significantly affects the well-being of employees. When employees attempt to expose these issues, they are often met with ridicule and deflection. Merit Medical should take these concerns seriously, address them promptly, and commit to creating a fair, inclusive, and respectful work environment that prioritizes employees' mental health and overall well-being.
