Excellent company in which to build a career

    Pros

Great opportunities exist for all delivery staff, enabling rapid progression from entry level positions to a varied range of roles across many industries and geographies. Very professional in dealings with customers and well respected and commended by clients. If you have a good idea, you can take it to management and it can be implemented. People are typically excellent, best I've seen in any organisation. Workplace maintains a friendly, helpful atmosphere. Lots of support around training. If you are good at what you do, that will be recognised, and you will do well. Management are approachable and listen to staff and communication flows both ways.

    Cons

At times, internal admin functions are HQ-centric, slow to react, and lowest cost wins, despite the employee inconvenience or long-term aims of the company. Not sufficient diversification in projects across industries and locations for all staff at and all levels. On occasion, different BUs within the organisation work for their own good, rather than for the advancement of the company.

Extremely focused on people and very welcoming

    Pros

As a new joiner during lockdown the onboarding process was flawless. Where I received all the gear to perform my role and met with the relevant contacts ahead of joining Everyone I required help from was easy to reach out and provided guidance and truly embraced new joiners as part of the existing team. There is a strong encouragement towards learning and improvement

    Cons

Between projects may incur downtime, while there is no pressure from management to be allocated 100% of the time.

A great company to work for, with excellent team spirit

    Pros

Approachable, open senior management. Outstanding technical people and a drive to innovate. Dedication to doing a good job for the customer. A genuine desire to be an inclusive, progressive company. A great, fun place to work. I really felt part of a big family here and trusted the management to look after their staff.

    Cons

Base salaries were a little on the low side for the skills / market. Utilisation targets are high so you need to be happy spending a lot of time on customer site.

Was good but is getting worse each year

    Pros

It's great for someone with little or none experience as the company is opened to teach.

    Cons

Bad decisions made by management leads to loose good people. There is this feeling that they are ok with not experienced people building projects.

Opportunities to learn and progress with a great company culture

    Pros

The people and culture - there is something special that has been nurtured from day one A safe environment to learn and try and adapt A company of people who are genuinely passionate about technology and its ability to solve problems Open access to senior leadership and directors who are personable and engaging Autonomy to progress your career and personal development

    Cons

High expectations are sometimes daunting for new employees who aren't used to the culture Travel can sometimes be tiring but the ability to work alongside customers in their environment provides invaluable learning and understanding Some people miss out on experiencing the company culture when working in a satellite office or spending much of their time on customer site

    Kainos Response

    Managing Director

This is all great feedback and thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback. And thank you for the suggestions. Your comment about being 'open' is great and being open really is important. I think that we continue to improve, but I think that we can get even better - it should be an 'automatic behaviour' - and we are not just there yet. Thank you again, Brendan

    Excellent Company

    Pros

No limit to growth or challenge. Culture of excellence at all levels. Highly supportive, collaborative people, who genuinely want each other to do well. Excellent training. Visible, approachable and authentic CEO and executive team. Kainos is a unique mix of technical innovation, superb career development, impactful projects and commercial success. Small company agility and culture with large company (world-class, I would say) professionalism. Terrific office locations.

    Cons

Very few. Kainos is a high-performance environment. This can affect people's confidence if (as can happen for a variety of reasons) if they aren't on their game at all times. Travel is required for some projects, which for some people involves considerable personal sacrifice.

    Kainos Response

    Managing Director

I really appreciate you taking the time to provide your comments - thanks. I've touched on the travel topic in detail on another thread on Glassdoor. While less than 15% of staff (currently at 790 people) are long-term travellers, it clearly is a disruption to personal life and impacts work-life balance. And short-term, infrequent travel can also be disruptive - a 5.30am start for an early morning flight is not fun, whether you do it once a year or once a month; so it's good advice to keep an eye on all those travelling. Thanks again, Brendan
