Pros
My experience with John Paul Construction couldn't be better. Since day one I was very well welcomed by my team and felt very embraced by the company. My work is always appreciated, and the management is very open to new ideas and flexible to changes. My manager, in particular, is always willing to lead and help. I am comfortable to say that he is always pushing to do better every day, always in a very good environment. I also can see a big effort from the company in keep getting better. The Management is based in open conversation where you can discuss what can bring your career further and what the company can do to keep you happy in the business. Apart from the improvements to employees, its notable the effort to be a sustainable, inclusive and diversity environment for everyone who is joining and a respectful business to the community. I can say for sure, John Paul Construction was best place I've ever worked. I am looking forward to next 5, 10 years...
Cons
I can't think of anything as a con.

Pros
Good experience on large scale projects, some of the senior project team are good people to learn from.
Cons
Got stung with a tax bill after working the whole way through the covid 19 pandemic. JPC secretly availed of the wage subsidy scheme so they could pay all staff the same even on the sites that were closed during the pandemic, but never told anyone. JPC refused to pay it as I'd got a new job. Was a really challenging time to be working during the pandemic, and as thanks got a good chunk of a tax bill. Cheers JPC 👍👍 And yeah, as other reviews said, outside Dublin they don't really care about you.

Pros
Good pipeline of work in the future
Cons
EHS gets put on site management issues, not allowing time for forward planning

Pros
A company that expands rapidly. For younger staff this could mean rapid advancement prospects.
Cons
In general the company is understaffed in the lower to mid level positions. Many younger engineers and staff choose to leave because of the volume of work, the lack of training (ie pairing them with more senior staff instead of one hour training sessions where too much information is force fed into them) or better work / life balance. with the increase of the companys portofolio this will lead to more people leaving, simply because there is too much work and too much pressure. The site company structure (PM - CM to Senior - Site engineers ratio) was top heavy in 3 out of 4 projects so far.

Pros
I have been working for JPC for over 7 years and during this time there has been constant improvements to our working life. The leadership team are always seeking ways to improve employee wellbeing, work-life balance, staff benefits, annual pay increases. There is great opportunities for training and each employee has a personal development plan tailored to their position, which sets out a career plan and path.
Cons
As with any construction position, the hours can sometimes be long!
