      Pros

Colleagues are friendly, day off requests were obliged, discount

      Cons

The minimum wage pay is ridiculous. No benefits except the discount. Progression is so long monotonous and drawn out and pay after is not rewarding. I’ve worked in retail for 7 years and never seen the customers to be as bad than in JD.

      Awful management

      Pros

Access to new products as soon as they are released. Able to get a sneak peak on new shoes and clothes before they are released to the public. Get staff discount on some of your favourite brands

      Cons

Limited yearly staff discount (limit is far too low for the prices of stock). Staff are treated terribly (bullied, harassed, treated unfairly, etc.) Glaring double standards for management compared to staff. Payslips are often wrong and sometimes take weeks to fix and get paid. Staff are not listened to, management do not care about their availability and will give them whatever shifts they want to. HR contacts are useless, never able to sort out issues whether they are too lazy to or they don't know how to, always refer you back to your store manager. The area and regional managers are just as bad, if you make a complaint to them about a manager in your store they say they will deal with it then won't. When you make a complaint to higher management about store management, there is no confidentiality, the report gets said to the store managers straight away which then usually is followed by bullying and even further unfair treatment. If you do anything that the managers don't like they hold a grudge against you for weeks, the definition of pettiness. The managers are middle ages adults and act like young children, they are absolutely terrible to work for.
