I worked at House of Fraser part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good environment, pleasant space and facilities, great atmosphere and dynamic between staff across the board.
    Loads of opportunity to progress.
Decent pay and benefits, time off etc.
Staff discount throughout store and online, occasional incentives for targets.

    Cons

Procedure doesn't consider common sense, no wiggle room for emergencies (i.e. sick cover=major understaffing issues)
Poor management of labour, sometimes chronically overstaffed, equally as likely to be chronically understaffed, never seemed to get this quite right.
Poor communication with concession managers and HoF advisors, concession managers generally getting away with circumventing company procedures on a regular basis.

    Advice to Management

I think you do a brilliant job, I wish you were given more direct control over rosters and hours, and more staff to work with! I think all issues can be traced to rigid procedures without proper review.

I have been working at House of Fraser part-time

    Pros

Great working atmosphere among sales advisors and senior sales in the store, everyone is very friendly and welcoming.

    Cons

Upper management level and floor managers treat employees of both House of Fraser and concession staff with absolutely no respect. All considered extremely unapproachable and lack basic management skills in almost every area. Management start fights with concession staff members regularly, creating an extremely hostile and uncomfortable environment. She screams at staff and is also extremely rude to customers and has been caught on numerous occasions grabbing work phones off staff who are consulting with customers over the phone and also caught pointing at customers as they walk by. The staff toilets are regularly out of order. There is a lack of air conditioning on the shop floor making it very difficult to work in. Stock rooms are not ventilated which during the summer months create an unsafe work environment when we are forced to do deliveries in the stock room. There is only access to water on the 3rd floor and a lot of staff will be given out to if they leave the floor unattended to get water.

    Advice to Management

Sack the store manager. Sack the deputy story manager. Give more credit to the employees of the store who actually take care of customers on a day to day basis rather than those managers sitting in the office running the company into the ground.

I worked at House of Fraser part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Really lovely environment, great people to work with. Worked in the ladies wear under a brand. Even though you have your separate shops, everyone was close and friendly. We all had a great relationship!

    Cons

    Facilities.
There weren't enough lockers for everyone.
No access to water on the floor, even in cupboards, small rooms. Even in summer.
    Security watch everything you do.

    Advice to Management

None really. Management were all lovely people. So easy to speak with.
