I have been working at Hitachi Capital (UK) full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Everyone is always willing to take the time out of their day to talk you through something or offer you training. The environment is fast paced and offers plenty of opportunities for you to develop and help the company to also develop. Collaboration is a huge part of the work in Hitachi and is something that I've fully enjoyed during my time here as everyone has a valued contribution to the work. The line managers show a great level of care to the team which has been especially important in this current time.

    Cons

I have no cons to working here.

I worked at Hitachi Capital (UK) full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Generous annual and Christmas bonus Nice facilities Growing Company

    Cons

Overall as a Group HCUK is a fantastic place to work. I couldn't recommend the Trowbridge office though. Management is poor and that comes from the top. I dreaded going in every day, focus is on what isn't going right and achievements are never recognised. A new system implementation ran over by several years but we had to cope without key team members.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We're delighted you appreciated the rewards available, this is something we're really proud of at HCUK, and continually looking to improve on. It's great to hear you feel HCUK is a fantastic place to work. Whilst it's disappointing to hear your experience wasn't entirely positive we do hope you were able to share more detail on your Exit Interview. In terms of acknowledgement, we do have a number of recognition initiatives in place from weekly Gold Star awards in each location, through to team-based recognition awards and an annual incentive bonus scheme as well as the nationwide Employee of the Month award. With regard to leadership, we are continually investing in leadership development at all levels of the business and our employee survey data is showing that these initiatives are having a positive impact. For the occasions where people feel things need improving, we have several forums and ways for people to raise concerns if they feel unable to speak directly with their manager. We have been working on one of the largest software implementations in the history of our business. We're incredibly grateful for the united efforts of everyone in our business in helping to make sure it goes smoothly and we're excited to be very close to go-live. We're confident the benefits both our people and customers will experience will have been worth the wait whilst we took our time to get it just right. HCUK HR Team

I worked at Hitachi Capital (UK) full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I have loved my time here at Hitachi capital, it was a great place to work and the people are very friendly here. Annual bonus £400 John Lewis Christmas Vouchers Free Parking Free fruit on Monday's Contactess vending machines Great office space and outdoor Japanese gardens Regular charity events 25 days holidays + "Me day" + 5 days to buy more holidays And many more incentives...

    Cons

If you want to apply for a job in Collections, B2B and Underwriting I really wouldn't bother. There's discussions of cutting back on the number of underwriters or scrapping the whole department altogether. The collections team have a high staff turn over and they won't let you apply internally until you've completed 12 months of service. There's too much micromanaging in the B2B team. Line managers feel threatened to progress colleagues under them as, they attend and hand hold most client meetings. Since management changed, there's no atmosphere to say it's a sales environment, colleagues take their client phone calls outside of the office because it's so quiet. No lack of motivation, no monthly incentives within the team. This team constantly criticize other departments/clients and workload, such a discouraging atmosphere! Progression for a higher position is purely down to favouritism within the whole company. Hitachi have made several cuts across the board, this isn't an expanding company where you can progress quickly.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review, and for bringing to life some of the perks of working in our business. There are no plans to reduce the size of our underwriting team, You are right, that there are guidelines in place regarding applying for vacancies internally. There are several reasons for this including ensuring stability for our customers and making sure people are properly onboarded in one team before moving to others. In terms of internal progression, we are proud to say that over a third of all vacancies are filled internally and for Senior Leadership and ExCo roles that number is even higher. In terms of culture, and atmosphere this is something we're currently working on evolving and making better and have several forums through which people can provide feedback, including anonymous surveys, to help make things better. Thanks for your input, it's much appreciated. HCUK HR Team

    Pros

Really friendly team; we have a laugh and we also care about our customers. Not a sweatshop like some other contact centres I have worked in round here. Managers that care about you at all levels from the MD down. People take the time to talk to you and there are lots of events for us

    Cons

Sometimes can be very busy and we can miss out on events because it’s too busy for us to come off the phones

Thanks for taking the time to share your point of view. It may sound like a cliche but our people really are what make our culture as friendly and welcoming as it is. It can be busy, particularly as we go through so much growth, and we'll definitely feedback your comments about missing events sometimes as it would be great if everyone could get the opportunity to join in. Thanks for taking the time to leave a review, we do appreciate it. We'll be forwarding your comment about communication, as we're always looking for opportunities to improve. One of the things we've recently done to improve communication is to implement the use of MS Teams. As well as enabling our people to maintain relationships with immediate team members whilst working remotely, it has also helped to enable more contact and engagement between teams who don't usually get to see each other very often. Once again, thanks for your feedback and all the best in your new role. Your HR Team

I have been working at Hitachi Capital (UK) full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great values that are followed from the top down. Nice office with on site parking. Good bonus scheme. Vouchers at Christmas. A culture of recognition and reward. Fresh fruit delivered daily. Down to earth senior management. Agile working. Private healthcare. Other nice little perks include, advent calendars at Christmas, reduced Christmas working hours, Easter eggs, occasional pizzas to celebrate big successes, free use coffee vending machines, employee social events.

    Cons

I always miss the sandwich vans so would be nice to have an on site canteen.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review, we really appreciate it. It's good to see the little perks are well received. Never a good thing to miss the sandwich van although the good news is the new shops and food places that have recently opened across the road from our Trowbridge site. Your HR Team

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. We're pleased to say that we've already implemented a number of initiatives related to the topics you included in your review. For instance, for a lot of industry events, we now offer the opportunity for all employees to register their interest, and then names are drawn from a hat. For International Women's Day this year, we launched a roadshow where female leaders from all our different business hosted coffee and chat sessions to help inspire the next generation of female leaders. 2019 saw the launch of GameChangers, our programme to offer structured mentoring and apprenticeships to young people from a diverse range of backgrounds. Internally we have launched the Aspire programme for aspiring future leaders which has attracted a wide range of employees. These initiatives are only some of the things we're doing, and we'll continue to add to them. As with many good things, they take time to come to fruition but we're optimistic about our investment for the future. HCUK HR Team
