I have been working at H&M full-time for more than a year

    Pros

They always have special sales for employees like 40% , 45% off and 50% off one item on your birthday , usually have plenty of overtime , they encourage you to progress

    Cons

Not enough pay if this is your forever job as 25k-30k is not enough per year in a management position

    Advice to Management

Support floors when needed , be more lenient on swaps and requested days off

I have been working at H&M full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great work team in store. I’ve made some good friends

    Cons

The work load is just mental. I understand retail is changing but my body is starting to show visible signs of stress and exhaustion. There is zero recognition for working yourself to the bone, just negative feedback all the time. I’ve worked here for years but have promised myself this is the last Christmas I’ll do this to myself.

    Advice to Management

Retail is changing and losing money but there are ways to combat this that don’t treat your staff like robots. The mood in stores is not good again. Everyone is exhausted and overworked. No one enjoys coming to work anymore and it’s causing a toxic atmosphere.

I have been working at H&M full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The friends you make. Everyone bonds because they’re all as miserable as each other.

    Cons

There is absolutely no recognition for hard work whatsoever. You are expected to go above and beyond for terrible money. No benefit to working here except for a 25% discount which they only realistically give you so you’ll spend money there. Area team is beyond a joke a bunch of people who’s only job seems to be to bark orders and visit stores to tell you everything you are doing wrong and then swan off back to the office or another store to do the same. Pressure is ridiculous for the job being done. Money is awful, stress is crazy and the way people can be treated is disgusting at times. Being told to cut hours and then being given out to when money isn’t being made while one person can be left alone to look after a whole floor!

    Advice to Management

Area team needs to be more realistic and actually start to SUPPORT stores. Start treating your staff as people instead of numbers who are easily replaced and maybe the turnover wouldn’t be so high. Or simply get a new area team cos this one isn’t working.

I have been working at H&M part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

*I've worked in 2 different popular shopping center locations in Dublin for a few years now* - Flexible shifts. They'll accommodate your personal commitments outside work (family, school etc). - Staff discount - Friendly work environment amount other sales assistants.

    Cons

    - A lot of decisions from the head office or individual store management does very little to make the work environment or shopping experience for customers easier or efficient. I understand that store managers have no final say most of the time either, even if they do agree that it's impractical or not efficient, so I can't put too much blame in them.

I have been working at H&M part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Very very very very little

    Cons

    - No work life balance, shift changes constantly, in till 10pm at night then back in at 7am in the morning, constantly being expected to stay later then rostered in because not enough staff, - staff morale is at an all time low -staff not allowed basics like water even though they are running around for 8 hours a day - staff working for 6 hours not allowed 30 minute break even though it is in citizens information that we are entitled to it. - company is loosing money with improper planning and not enough staff to make the store shop-able !!

    Advice to Management

    - have more staff in - show more appreciation for the staff you already have - loosing money big time because the store is in such a state always
