I worked at Goldman Sachs full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

They take care of their people in every way. Very impressive facility at the NYC headquarters, with all the comforts. Strong corporate structure to make sure no one is misused. Good, transparent leadership.

    Cons

Not really a con, but not a lot of handholding if you are a slow learner. They expect top-tier, smart work from every employee. If you want to move up from an administrative position, you will have to lobby for it - nothing will just fall in your lap here.

I worked at Goldman Sachs full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    1. Good salary package
    2. Market leaders in Investment banking
    3. You get to learn a lot from the senior leadership

    Cons

    1. If you are a hard core techie then this is not the place to be. They use oldest of the old technologies and you cannot even suggest a new technology to be used as the company is not biased towards it.
    2. You will not grow as a technologist in this company.
    3. The company thrives on politics. A lot of good talent was allowed to go away as they did not suck up to their bosses

I have been working at Goldman Sachs full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Looks great on your resume, decent benefits/perks, love the sense of belonging to the global goldman network

Lots of very smart people to work with and interesting projects to work on

    Good flexibility options

    Cons

Very long working days (10 hour minimum), salary not as good as it could be given the higher time commitment.

Every team is understaffed. Work day is super intense, no time for a breather (no lunch break!!)

Need to play the politics in order to get promoted. Hard work alone is insufficient.

    Advice to Management

    More visibility into promotions.
Shorten the work week to the normal 8 hours per day. Hire more people.
