I have been working at Ford Motor Company full-time

    Pros

The manager of the customer service dept. was fantastic. A very approachable, understanding & outgoing person. didn't feel like a traditional "boss". Most, if not all of the staff in the other departments were very nice too. The money is good, for a customer service position.

    Cons

The position itself is very difficult, being spoken to in an aggressive, rude & insulting manner every day undoubtedly has a negative affect on a person. There was little to no room for upward mobility, there didn't seem to be any option to move up the ranks. If there had been, I could have seen myself sticking out the job for another while, in order to move up. But that doesn't seem like a great way for Ford to hire the best people. Upper management are stuck in the stone age in certain ways. Having to start from the bottom and do a job you hate for years, in order to get a position that is relevant to your degree/field doesn't make any sense. It's more a test of your patience, rather than your proficiency to do the given job. Some people in upper management are there simply because they've worked there for X number of years. Seems backwards. Also, a small thing but does sitting at a desk answering phones all day really require someone to wear a tie? Come on, reprimanding people for not wearing their tie in a job that isn't client facing? Get real.
