I have been working at Fitbit full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Half the company lives with the hope of the Google acquisition can go through and then management is going to change - HR does a great job of fighting for benefits on par with other large IT companies

    Cons

    - No work-life balance, we often work 14 hour days - Upper & lower Management works weekends and actively encourages others to do the same - You will get contacted on PTO and asked to deliver - There is no overtime - CEO effectively runs the prioritisation in the company's products, deeming the whole Product Org useless and creating a lot of waste - No clear path for growth - Everybody is defensive and avoids commitment on a regular basis

I have been working at Fitbit for less than a year

    Pros

Wonderful employees - everyone I've worked with is extremely team-oriented, supportive, kind. We have a great work-life balance, fun happy hours on Fridays, as well as a number fitness/wellness events.

    Cons

My one con is that contractors aren't included in some team/company events. I'm a contractor and still part of the team, so this is disappointing sometimes.

I worked at Fitbit full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good time off benefits, decent work/life balance unless you're on a really overworked team, people passionate about the products

    Cons

Management are toxic and have no interest in retaining talent, management have superior complex over employees and will flaunt it, refusal to understand the limitations of headcount at the management level, overcommitment to hundreds of initiatives they can't staff, managers give little to no direction to help employees grow skills, lowball staff in terms of base salary offers

I worked at Fitbit full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Awesome independent contributer employees, some of the best, most hardest working people in San Francisco - Mature systems to dive into immediately and make impact right away - Great place to learn new skills, expand horizons, leverage training budgets - Decent benefits, lots of flexibility and work/life balance - The company's overall desire to do and be better is there

    Cons

    - Mid and upper level management has major problems in decision making and setting the right company culture, some problems might not be resolved without management turnover - Feedback to management, whether provided anonymously or directly, doesn't seem to result in any change whatsoever; easy to get stuck and end up with low team morale and high attrition - Lots of projects have dependencies with other teams and some teams move extremely slowly - Budget decision makers can't decide on the exact set of tools to use, how to use them, how long to use them, etc. so end up wasting time on meaningless projects that do not get advocated for despite team buy-in - A ton of time is spent getting rid of technical debt left behind by former employees - Mid and upper level management is too afraid to make hard decisions and support their opinions with facts and data; ends up in lots of wishy washy meetings and people saying random things without any real direction

I worked at Fitbit full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Great work life balance - Opportunity to roll up your sleeves and get work done - Opportunity to work with some really nice and talented people - Mission-driven and people really care about it - Flexible WFH policy

    Cons

    - Opportunity to roll up your sleeves... because you’re constantly fighting fires and cleaning up messes. - No clear path for growth; results in in-fighting among middle management - Lack of innovation/always feeling behind the curve - Unclear strategic vision from senior leadership. - Lack of alignment from senior leadership
