Best benefits! My doctors told me I had "rock star" insurance. The monthly cost was a fraction I had to pay at other companies.
Cons
I got to see many departments in my role. A person could have a very different experience depending on the department they worked for. The culture ranged from good to toxic depending on the department.

Heartbreaking 4 Years

Great Benefits and Perks Pension after 5 years Beautiful Building
Cons
Truly a heartbreaking experience. After 4 years of working in the US Treasury dept housed within the Fed, towards the end of my time there I was asked to continue offering a complete lack of service to benefit holders for VA, SSI, and Disability. Our job was to enroll beneficiaries into direct deposit either through their bank or on to a government issued card. It became obvious after my first 3 years that the vendors handling the government issued cards had no interest in even making sure that benefit holders received their money. Every call was typically the anger and/or tears of customers who had no clue where their money was and no way of reaching the vendor to find out where the card was. The contract for these vendors was extended just after a new group of mid-management level staff were hired. As I had been vocal about the fact that all we are talking to are folks that are without their government funds and can't get any assistance from the card provider, my days were numbered. Leadership, upper management, and mid management were aware of the issues with the vendor, and it was obvious they were not willing to sever the relationship. The call center was housed in the basement of the Fed and any chance of moving from that position was next to impossible as I tried on many occasions for promotion. One year before I would be vested in the pension plan with the bank, I was let go with the statement "a lack of confidence." If you can deal with the stress of listening to thousands of veterans and senior citizens beg you to help them. This is the job for you. If you can get your foot in the door through the basement, do everything you can to increase your skills and continue your education to get out and on to upper floor in a more meaningful dept ASAP.

Great mission, great people
19 Oct 2022 - Vice President Human ResourcesRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
New president and CEO is a positive change from former president. People who work at the Dallas Fed are dedicated to the mission and are proud to be part of something bigger than themselves. If working for an organization that is committed to making a difference in the world is what you are looking for, this is a great organization for you.
Cons
This is a company that is quasi-governmental and has oversight from Congress, therefore it has all the cons of a governmental organization. It can be extremely bureaucratic and slow to make decisions. Leadership talks about empowerment, but struggles in putting the words into action.
