I worked at FedEx Ground part-time for less than a year

    Pros

-Flexible scheduling -Active/dynamic job (for those that would enjoy lots of moving/being on your feet, lifting--provides much more exercise than a desk job would) -Fast-paced -Decent salary -Great insurance, perks and benefits -Incentives for hard workers/dedicated employees (increases in pay, new opportunities) -Allows employees to advocate for themselves/rules in place that protect employee rights, against discrimination/mistreatment at the workplace -Breaks (if full-time) -Taught stretches and the proper lifting techniques to perform before shifts to relax the muscles and prevent strain/injury -If you are injured on the job, you are sent home and must notify your shift manager--check-ins and paid leave can be offered if the injury is serious

    Cons

-Extremely taxing, difficult, and dangerous job that great health insurance may not always protect you from (serious injuries can be life-changing and/or fatal) -Can sometimes be mistreated in this position since it is definitely a form of hard labor--you may be pushed beyond your limits, and you are expected to do what you are told -No breaks if you are part-time -Warehouse is extremely hot in the summer, freezing cold in the winter--if not properly prepared for said conditions, can be dangerous -Fast-paced (the ability to keep up with demands and incoming loads is crucial)

I have been working at FedEx Ground part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great benefits, including tuition assistance. Great local management team. Lots of long-term employees, which says a lot about a company imo. The work is physically demanding and fast-paced which I enjoy. They like to hire from within for management positions.

    Cons

The hard labor isn't for everyone. Not a lot of hours in the part-time locations so a second job is necessary. Large corporations sometimes have policies that don't make sense in every location or scenario.

I have been working at FedEx Ground part-time for less than a year

    Pros

I'm not sure there are any....

    Cons

You get hired, they reel u in with BS...now FedEx is one of the largest shipping and receiving companies in the United States. Ok so let talk about how they dnt take care of their employees. First day orientation, second day forget training you'll be put right too work...the conditions in this warehouse are unbelievable ...its a mess you got loads of dust waiting to attach it self to you. Ok lets talk about how FedEx doesn't give their employees things to help them succeed at the job...you need gloves for safety reasons "but SAFETY is their TOP priority" I'm confused. Its gets better...they tell you that you can dress comfortable which is great...but I think they should offer uniforms for us to get dirty..I'm part time so we have no breaks at all...its like a slave ship...its extremely hot in those trailers....the fan is blowing dust particles....now here is where it gets sticky....it should be mandated that all employees need steel toe boats...you have all types of things coming thru the warehouse....weights, batteries that may weigh ova 150pounds...imagine that box falling ova on your toes "while wearing those sneakers they said you could wear" any warehouse I have worked make sure their employees have the necessary tools to do the job...everyone should wear a safety vest...and steel toe boots paid by this multi-billion company....part time shift feels like you jus worked 10 hours....FedEx doesn't offer anything other then work SERIOUSLY! I've got so much more too say about this company....nice people but the set up is wrong. This place needs help, I would definitely love to be apart of the FedEx family long term but it's not sitting well with me..I just can't believe that this company isn't all that they say it is. And the pay rate isn't great at all...we're doing all this manual labor and pay is at 13.60 Amazon pays their employees 2 dollars more and you aren't worked until ur body is torn up...everything an Amazon needs to succeed they offer free of charge...FedEx offers latex gloves which only last 20 mins into the shift. FedEx needs to do better..I probably wouldn't have so much too say...if I was hired and the company made sure I was set up for success and not failure.

I have been working at FedEx Ground part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I've been working for FedEx Ground for over two years now and love what I do for the most part. The pay is decent for what we do and the hours are fairly consistent, though short. I also get a great workout in a short time. The insurance benefits are good and affordable once you accumulate enough hours to qualify. I only pay about $60 a week for my PPO medical plan, dental, vision, hospitalization, accident, and critical care policies for myself and my children.

    Cons

Although FedEx offers good healthcare benefits, it takes 1000 hours as a part-time employee to qualify for those benefits, which takes a long time, roughly a year. It's also very difficult to move up in the company. It seemingly doesn't matter how hard you work, or how much experience you have. It appears as if it's all political, or based on gender. All of the trainers and recent qa hires (seasonal and permanent) have been men. Employees are not notified about posted positions, though upper management will tell select people that they want to promote about the position, ensuring that their choice is guaranteed the position because of a limited applicant pool. As a "lead" of my work area, the sort and area managers are more than happy to allow leads to utilize our skills to run their work areas when our op's manager have the day off without being paid extra for it, yet won't take those skills into consideration when interviewing for promotion. There was a qa shortage before peak 2019, and the qa manager was told by our senior manager to pick a couple of people to fill needed positions. Instead of being fair and choosing people who already some experience in qa and had applied in the past to give them an opportunity to move up, she instead chose two inexperienced random guys for qa: one was a tugger driver who had only been there five months, and another guy who had been there under a year. Neither of them had ever had any previous experience with qa, and both applied for the positions AFTER they were already working for more than a week as qa. The hiring process at our facility is very unfair and makes zero sense. Dealing with staffing shortages is also very common. There's far too many package handlers that don't show up for their shifts, or are repeatedly late, or are slow and lazy. Feeling frustrated by having to cover your work area and someone else's happens on a regular basis.

I have been working at FedEx Ground part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Pay is great. Starting at $14.75/hr and upped to $15/hr after a month. Easy work if you’re physically fit.

    Cons

If you’re part time, you could be getting only 18-24 hours a week when it’s low season.
