Pros

There is interesting work that can be fulfilling at times. Smart people with cool backgrounds can be found.

Cons

There is much to say, but here is the main takeaway. This is not a meritocratic environment, starting with the "dubious hiring practices" mentioned by a previous poster. Individuals are often hired by the cut of their jawline and how long they can hold a plank rather than the quality and relevance of their experience -- not to mention that the vast majority of employees here are male (there is no diversity here -- check out the website). Many of those who are hired are hand-selected by the CEO himself - often from 'interesting' locations such as the gym or the airport. Those with actual skills and expertise end up leaving for a reason. Management is incompetent and relies heavily on the a few associates and mid-level people that actually know what they are doing. Decision making is not transparent and, frankly, often idiotic given the fact that some of these people went to ostensibly good schools. What's the most incredible thing to me is that this company has managed to stay afloat despite expensive and incompetent hires coupled with questionable business development trips abroad by the CEO.

Veracity Worldwide Response
7y
Veracity values the perspective of current and former colleagues, and respects that we're not a fit for everyone, and vice versa. As a firm, we believe strongly in affording opportunities for personal growth and development for all team members, and in recruiting from a broad range of environments. Management encourages feedback from all team members and strives constantly to improve our work environment.

Pros

I worked at Veracity for more than 7 years and it was a life changing experience. At Veracity you will: -Gain deep knowledge on a multitude of industries like energy, mining, telecoms and hospitality -Work with a wide range of clients including multinationals, private equity and law firms -Travel internationally on a routine basis for client visits and on-the-ground research such as site visits or in-person interviews with local sources -Have direct access to senior management who will go out of their way to provide guidance on any project and care deeply about career development of staff My time at Veracity was truly a great experience. They treated me well and even helped me get an MBA at Columbia University. The only reason I left was a true once in a lifetime opportunity that I wanted to pursue, but I leave feeling more like an alumni with access to a terrific network of existing and past employees than just a 'former employee'.

Cons

This isn't necessarily a con, but be prepared to work long hours. This job is a mix of management, strategic, political risk and PR consulting all rolled into one. Which means at the end of the day you work for clients who pay well but expect the best. Rarely did I think the job was "high-pressure" but it is "high stakes" with client deal sizes ranging from millions to billions. As such, it just isn't a 9-5, but the pay off is immense if you have a high intellectual curiosity and like working alongside A+ talent.

Pros

The job was interesting and they ended up paying in full for the agreed-upon work - after fighting them for it

Cons

Where do I begin? I delivered the project in the agreed-upon time, fulfilling all the deliverables to the letter despite the difficulty of the project - asking for nearly impossible-to-find information and taking place in a literal war zone. They then came back with a litany of additional asks that would have taken weeks to complete, if they were possible at all. I pointed this out, and was then met with an incredibly disrespectful and arrogant response insisting that my work wasn't close to what they needed and I had to provide far more. I have worked in this industry for years - I am well aware that my work was better than satisfactory. I refused to do all the additional unpaid work they asked for, but someone less experienced or assertive might have given in to this exploitative behaviour. Avoid these guys - there's people who won't treat you like **** while you risk your life doing a highly specialized job for them.
