Pros

If you are interested in hospitality clients, this could be a great learning experience.

Cons

I came into this agency, very excited by the potential of the work. The president seemed tough, but I was very hopeful this would be a tough boss who in the end cares about his employees and wants the best for the company. Unfortunately, when I left the company I felt like I was leaving an abusive relationship. My confidence plummeted, I doubted my intelligence. Prior to this, I had always felt my work efforts were appreciated and that I was very capable. In this position I felt like I was constantly getting yelled at, and seeing others in a similar position. I believe this was sometimes due to the President's own confusion/lack of remembering what was discussed. It seemed copywriting would take hours upon hours of re-writing - even often perfectly good copy (in my option). I'm unsure if this is due to his ego or neuroses. I worked 60 hour work weeks, and in the end never really felt appreciated. I would dread conversations with the president. Many of us at the agency confided in one another that we were often unsure when a temper tantrum would strike. I also think it's strange there are not more reviews. I can't help but wonder if there is a sense of fear that hangs over people, or a loyalty akin to Stockholm syndrome. This is only my opinion, but I think you should know what you're getting into.

Pros

Co-workers were awesome - they know how to hire good people. If you're looking to learn a lot of skills, you will because everyone is given a lot of responsibility. There were always snacks around and occasionally we would have lunches and happy hours.

Cons

Expectation to work constantly and often after hours. This is a really small company so hard work and wearing multiple hats is to be expected, but the management was poor and I felt like there was a lack of appreciation for the hard work everyone constantly put in (I know I wasn't the only one that thought this). Everyone was constantly very frustrated with the CEO's lack of understanding of the current marketing world. Very high expectations and demands by the clients - they are often high-end, luxury clients so this is to be expected...however, I thought that the company didn't really have the backs of their employees enough. All of my coworkers were honestly stressed, overworked, and seemingly unhappy. I found my job to be a nice challenge at first, but towards the end felt continually frustrated and that all of the work I put in was not understood or appreciated.

Occasional hangouts and team activities

Cons

Boss is always hawk eyeing you. Plays favorites. Overtime without pay unless you go way over.
