Pros

-One fair Partner who is very proactive and listens to the needs of his employees -The job is simple and can be done efficiently with all the resources available when you work with managers whose interests support the firm interests as a whole.

Cons

-The system always freezes and IT blames it all on the server and there's just 'nothing' that can be done. -Some members of management believes in only ONE way to audit -Personal preferences affect the evaluation process -Very detailed that Supervising Seniors miss the big picture of the audit because they focus too much on the neatness and uniformity of workpaper documentation

Pros

Working at Rothstein Kass offers an internship that was similar to one at the big four public accounting firms, but with much more exposure and responsibilities on the job. The long hours and the type of work is pretty much the same regardless of which public accounting firm you work for, but what's different is the atmosphere in the office. For me, I had the pleasure to work with an office team of just 15 individuals, so the personal connections truly existed, which played a huge role in the culture. Everyone who works for the firm is extremely friendly, intelligent, approachable, and hard-working at the same time. I never felt pressured by any deadlines at any point and the entire office atmosphere feels like a team environment 100% of the time. To help cope with long hours that naturally come with busy season, Rothstein Kass had what they called the "marathon." It was a string of 26 events throughout busy season that varied from competitions to social gatherings to bring up employee morale and reduce individual stress.

Cons

The reason I gave Rothstein Kass 4 stars instead of 5 was because the work-life balance, at times, was not there. This kind of goes without saying with any public accounting role, but it would have been nice to get out of the office early every once in a while just to help reduce stress and get personal time. That being said, Rothstein Kass's compensation justifies the long hours and grueling work.
