Pros

The people are just amazing, smart, and hardworking. Everyone here is passionate about library work and doing the best they can for their customers. There's a lot of room for innovation and growth. Hours are fairly flexible when they need to be. There's tons of training to take part in so you really feel like you get to grow as a librarian.

Cons

Parking at Nichols is a beast! This is not really a con, but a bit of advice. This place has three buildings that all interact and work together. You need to be good at clear electronic/in person communication and time management here. You also need to be a team player, be forgiving, and lend a hand wherever.

Pros

I had a great experience working here. I've since worked for 5 other libraries and some were ok and some were absolutely hostile. Out of all the libraries I worked in, NPL was the one that seriously actually cared about its disabled employees. They had an awesome HR department. I wish I never left that job! I am in Arizona now and libraries here are just not the same. I had an amazing time working there doing the puppet shows and working with such incredibly talented staff, and I loved decorating the library!

Cons

I have to enter 5 words but I can't honestly think of a whole lot.

Pros

NPL is ranked as one of the best libraries in the nation in its budget area. The pay is competitive for library work. There are excellent benefits including an ample pto package. The culture of the library is great, and the community absolutely loves the library.

Cons

As one of the best libraries in the country, performance expectations are higher, and getting hired or promoted can be more challenging than at other libraries.
