Pros

If you like ego, arrogance and a directionless company this place is for you

What was once an exciting and innovative organisation, has now become the failing and directionless company that is unable to perform simple tasks. Maybe it is the inexperienced CEO or the rarely seen head of People Ops, but the organisation has created a culture of hostility and fear where no one dare challenge any rules. Though they send out lots of internal surveys, no one dares answer them honestly for fear of retribution. You can see the bullying culture beginning to grow, with senior managers using their titles to talk down to staff whilst also looking to harvest people’s ideas as their own. Everything is top down, innovation is seen as a challenge, but this is probably due to the fact there are now so many senior managers across the business they have to justify their role. Innovation is blocked at every turn by a senior manager in a some department who wants their voice heard, yet contributes very little to the conversation. The atmosphere is at a all time low with multiple members of staff handing their notice in and people generally being unhappy. Mental health is at a low, people are stressed and worried and yet the exec team ignore it all and tell us how wonderful things are. Matillion is a culturally sinking ship, unfortunately the rats at the top are not abandoning it.

Pros

I'm 15 years into my career having worked for hundreds of companies (consulting). Matillion's culture is ranked top 3 and you'd be hard-pressed to find a better one outside of some fancy Silicon Valley startup that works remotely from Bermuda and grows their own wheat grass. Also, in my top three ever is Matillion's leadership. Matillion's executive team is strong from an IQ and EQ perspective. The vision is great and they've adapted beautifully to market. They've also hit their growth targets which is in line with other top SaaS companies. Read the values on the website. If they resonate with you then join Matillion. When I joined almost two years ago, the CEO approval rating was the highest I've ever seen (95%) and the ratings were 4.5. This has been diminished purely because of layoffs but the 95% and 4.5 are still here, I promise you.

Cons

Like every company in the last 18 months, Matillion has gone through some growing pains but this is mostly because of having to ruthlessly adjust to the recession we are in. And, juxtaposed against Matillion's large funding rounds in 2021, this, of course, resulted in layoffs. Rapid hiring (3X'ing the size) + followed by a recession = layoffs, and what follows is a new culture that had to adapt. Some employees didn't like that and that's what you read on this page recently in the reviews.

Pros

None management people are super kind and friendly Good health insurance

Cons

Lack of direction Mismanagement while somehow also over managing Ever changing KPIs and high churn What was once a leading product has been overtaken by its highest competitor Hostile and demeaning leadership Expected to learn product and process while actively selling and managing accounts during onboarding Heavy internal politics that come off as very high school clique No one (including the Sales Engineers) knows everything about the product so there’s pressure to push unviable solutions unknowingly RTO for local employees is crushing moral
