Pros

- the tech stack is interesting and with the smaller teams, one can learn interesting things

Cons

I’ve worked at the company as both an intern for multiple periods (2018, 2019) and as a full timer from 2020-2023 and I can attest to the very negative turn in culture at this company. I raised concerns about my manager which were ignored by upper leadership and it resulted in multiple retaliations, an internal whistleblower investigation, and ultimately short after the investigation’s conclusion, was let go ( although they made it a point to let me know they do not retaliate against employees who file whistleblower complaints) - if you are neurodivergent, not able-bodied, a person of color, a woman, etc my strong recommendation would be to avoid this company like the plague. If you do not conform, you will be sidelined and most likely let go eventually. I know of a few former employees that have really bad interactions with this company behind close door. Please be careful and consider other options

Sorry to hear of your (very) negative experience at HubSpot and specifically just want to note that any form of retaliation violated our Code of Use Good Judgment. With regard to your advice to senior management, we are investing pretty significantly in this space and doing more of it, so I hope that will create meaningful improvements. Again, sorry to hear of your experience. -Katie

Pros

The teams you work with are phenomenal. The knowledge combination between an internal customer facing teams, engineering product development teams, and Sales are unmatched.

Cons

Excessive use of PIPs to oust employees after multiple high revenue launches, with no explanation, actual documentation, or factual data. Reviews have been adjusted to allow for terminations post pre-approved leaves. Salaries are a joke. You are always in a cover yourself mode 24/7. Management reviews are consistently a 2 or 3 out of 5 no matter what. If a team decides you aren’t in the group, management will put you on a “unofficial” PIP without telling you, in order to surprise you at a later date. Even if they are unfounded. Beware of possibility of negative backlash post launches. They will feel the need to assign blame ( such as for timelines or issues related to bugs). Regardless of performance or level of involvement. This is an enormous company with many large paths for career advancement. But micro management is rampant, leaving little room for doing the daily expectations of your actual role. This degrades your opportunities for career advancement.
