Pros
I joined Hologic just before COVID hit, which created a turbulent and fast-changing environment. I quickly made an impact by scaling production to meet surging demand, rewriting processes, and leading significant operational changes. While COVID accelerated the growth initially, the ongoing work of addressing resistance, setting clear expectations, and making difficult performance-management decisions has continued for many years, with full backing from management, allowing me to implement necessary improvements effectively. During this time, I navigated a much needed personal health matter with the company’s support, giving me the flexibility, time needed and financial support while remaining focused on my responsibilities.
The pace and demand often meant sacrificing perfection to meet ambitious output targets, and long hours and shifting priorities were challenging.
Overall, it was an intense but highly rewarding period that strengthened my leadership, operational, and decision-making skills under pressure.
Cons
It is sad that the site is now closing. While I don’t fully agree with the decision or feel my perspective was consulted, I am proud to have contributed and to have been one of the last members of the team.
