Pros

Free meals, family work setting, growth for management, training is easy and reliable for years to come! I worked with some of the best people in the industry and this was a fantastic introduction into IHG Hotels.

Cons

And now...for the cons! I worked at a franchised Holiday Inn and management really was hit and miss. It was upsetting sometimes being managed by people who would delegate their work and responsibilities onto their team and reap the rewards without lifting a single finger. At the hotel I worked at, my manager would arrive almost 4 hours late each day and leave right after lunch. This manager would unprofessionally invite us into her personal life and then persecute us for thinking of requesting days off. This manager micromanaged me all the while calling me to take care of her work while being at the gym DURING COMPANY HOURS. She was verbally abusive and threatened me on multiple occasions. Belittled me in front of coworkers and prevented me from advancing further because of her own insecurities as a manager. It got to a point that people in each department preferred her outside the office rather than onsite. My warning to all is be careful and know who you are working for because at Franchises there is NO HR so employees like my former manager will continue to exist and continue long after you are gone. This was an eye opening experience for me as I realized that this invites the true DIRTBAGS of the world to freeload while others work hard to gain a few years of experience to move on out. This was a horrible example to new hires who were introduced to the ugly side of management which is abusive people who took credit for others hard work.
