I worked at EF Education First part-time for more than a year

    Pros

There are always students to teach and lessons are booked for you by EF.

    Cons

The lessons are 40-50 minutes long and you have to write lesson feedback for every student before your next class begins on the next hour. Otherwise you end up working a lot after hours. There was not much training or support for brand new ESL teachers who had no TEFL or experience. You were just kind of left to figure it out on your own. The salary was also a bit low with no chance to increase your hourly rate.

Thank you for your feedback. We are happy to read that you regularly had students to fill your classes. For online teachers in Johannesburg, EF offers support with TEFL as well as compulsory online teaching modules and corresponding face-to-face review sessions. We will, however, look for ways that we can continue to enhance training for our Johannesburg teachers. Thank you for choosing EF as a starting point in your ESL career.

I worked at EF Education First for less than a year

    Pros

Loved the company culture, coworkers and perks

    Cons

Starting salary is extremely low for such a profitable company, everyone shows up early and stays late without getting paid
