Pros

Flexible work environment Good environment if you work best independently

Cons

Maybe something has changed since my time here, but: The business seems like a side hustle hobby more than an "award-winning agency." There is a huge lack of direction and creativity. In a way, it feels like a scam to not only the employees but the clients. Most projects follow the same template, for every client. You aren't getting necessarily what is best for your business. The company description is not accurate. There are promises made in the job description that you more than likely will not be delivered. It states you will be working with a design team, but you aren't given a team to work with. If you say you are a company of at least 20 employees, there should be proof of those employees. Being a small agency isn't a bad thing, but lying to future employees and clients about the company size is. Such poor communication. When given a task, there was no description or direction on which you should take. Deadlines were often forgotten about and given to employees at the last minute. Some days the owner just doesn't show up. You cant contact him for help and get frustrated when you do. If you claim your door is always open, keep it open and don't shut people out. Don't make your employees feel bad for asking for more information or help. If you state you're a creative director, be that. Everyone should work as a team, so we are all on the same page.

Pros

Working closely with senior management and several of the employees at Concept Envy I was always impressed with their alignment and drive to ONLY put out the best when it came to design work. They pride themselves on the success of their clients and they tailor products specific to each individual client vs a one-size-fits all type package. I've never seen an owner so dedicated to the success of the company and everyone involved. I've worked for companies in the past that have had a lack luster for employee success and disregard for client experience. Putting out work that is "good enough" or not investing in their employees to give them the best tools to succeed. This is a choice. The owners at Concept Envy constantly chose to rise above and push for better. It's a tough and competitive industry! They strive to push through the noise and encourage the team to be disruptive and think outside the box. They took me to the next level on perspective, big picture mentality, sales, strategy, and growth. What I learned was truly invaluable. Today I have chosen to start a company in another industry. When it came to developing our brand and marketing strategy, Concept Envy was our first choice and we couldn't be happier with our decision. Happy to continue working with these guys on the other side of it!

Cons

Come to work and work hard. There are flexible work arrangements and work/life balance is still important, but if you don't want to invest your time and energy in your career to ensure your success and the success of the company, both during and outside business hours, its probably not for you. It's a blood, sweat, and tears type of company, which is right up my alley, but of course is not for everyone. But you certainly are rewarded if it is!

Pros

-Working in the creative industry is cool -CTO is a pretty cool guy -Majority of the clients were nice to work with -Great starting point if you have a high tolerance for disrespect -Co-workers(no longer employed here) were amazing people

Cons

An insecure owner. The owner is very concerned when it comes to ego, even to the chagrin of the business. Creative freedom was often limited to what they thought is best, not because of industry knowledge, but for it not being the idea the owner came up with. Clients were often lied to about the size and capabilities of the agency. The owner was very concerned with appearing as a large agency, talking of multiple offices full of employees. There are currently 2 employees at the time of this review. At one point, all employees just didn't want to talk to the owner. A meeting was then help to address this, but resulted in no progress an employee getting yelled at for voicing concerns about the state of the company despite it being a meeting to "voice concerns." This company does not have web development knowledge so if you are looking to learn that you are better off on YouTube. Most of their sites are built using a wordpress page builder. Most projects follow the same template. The websites you will design will be painfully slow as they are hosted on bare bones servers and management would not listen to the advice of a former employee to address that issue. Those same servers were also hacked and client sites were brought offline. The worst part of working at Concept Envy by far is the treatment of the employees. No employee outside of the owners has made past 1 full year. Most employees are verbally harassed until they eventually leave. Several employees have noted their short time as some of the most miserable months of their lives. While working more than 40 hours a week at an agency is not uncommon, you will also be expected to work on weekends and will be reprimanded if you do not. An employee was once yelled at for taking a long lunch despite most of the employees being at that lunch. This is especially annoying when the owner just stops showing up some day presumably because they are upset over things not going their way. Clients were even ignored at one point. We just stopped getting communications from the owner about what client needs were. After some digging, we found that he was working on switching over to a sports marketing agency while ignoring the clients and his employees. Overall the owner has an emotional maturity of about 6 years old while also having the inability to make up his mind. This is not a good quality for a manager as decisions have to be made on projects at some point. Instead of making those decisions he is busy starting other "companies" in the yatch and CBD industries.
