Pros
Incredible benefits (health, vision, dental, transit, etc.) and pension plan, if you intend to stick around long enough to get vested.
Cons
Everything else depends on your member. If your member doesn’t care about their staff (especially their district staff) then your pay will start bad and stay bad, with very little chance of advancement. Even good bosses are seriously hamstrung by Assembly HR and their archaic idea of what a “living wage” is in coastal cities.
