Pros

- $5 Copay for medical care - Temporary WFH - Random gifts (because this billion dollar company knows they should be paying you more)

Cons

-Assistants are underpaid and overworked -The ATL Nexus office is a sham. The first few months of working there, I thought this place was amazing: -They seemed to be diverse, but the diversity was overwhelmingly in lower paying positions. The higher up you go, the less POC you see. -BCG seemed to care about our level of comfort regarding returning to the office during COVID, but that quickly became a demand to return or leave the company. The Business Services Team was required to return to the office, but those on the Consulting side were allowed to WFH as long as they wanted. Some even moved to different cities permanently. BCG also demanded all employees get fully vaccinated. They required all admin assistants to return to the office right after 4th of July (really smart for COVID right?) just for all of us to be sent home in August because of the rise of COVID. -Direct managers will try to silence you from speaking up during Townhalls and on Slack forums that you are able to ask questions in front of other employees. It's like they are afraid of a union or coup. If it is not complementary to BCG, your direct manager will message you and tell you doing so makes you look bad. -Although the "consulting side" is PAID and has a lot of liberties, they are also extremely overworked. This also means they don't care about your work life balance either. They will often overload you with unrealistic deadlines and you will be required to make it work regardless of what you have planned. -If you are willing to work for less, this company is for you!

Pros

BCG has top tier benefits, really smart colleagues, good in-office perks, and has a great company reputation. This was a huge part of my experience and has made me go back forth about my decision to leave.

Cons

This is speaking as someone who is not on the consulting side. On my particular team, office politics were very strong with little to no opportunities for people outside of the inner circle to assimilate. More broadly, I feel like the salary trajectory was a little slow, there is a lack of location mobility and and promotions can be hard to come by. Even so, I have personally seen exceptions be made for certain people. More broadly, being located in North America can be difficult since new roles are being open in other regions which is making internal mobility next to impossible. If you have any dissatisfaction with your current team, title, or level - there's a real possibility that you will have to wait multiple years before being able to make meaningful shifts towards your long term career goals.
