Pros

From the top down the culture that is integrated through the entire organization is second to none. Whether it is the corporate office or the sales field, very impressive. The level of widespread publisher success is great to see.

Cons

This is not a position for someone who is lazy. There is a learning curve like any position but a person must be willing to roll up their sleeves and go to work.

Pros

Everyone - from publishers to designers and corporate office staff - is helpful and eager to see the whole team succeed. Other content coordinators are wonderful about sharing information that would be relevant to magazines outside of their area. Quarterly webinars also keep us abreast of what's new.

Cons

Some things within the software can occasionally be clunky; but IT listens to suggestions and always works to make improvements.

Pros

The opportunity to build a meaningful, hyper-local community magazine from the ground up Exceptional support while still allowing true entrepreneurial freedom A company that invests in your mindset, confidence, and leadership The chance to connect deeply with local businesses and neighbors A culture that truly practices “people first” Training that sets you up for success, even if you’ve never done this before The ability to create something you’re proud of in your own hometown

Cons

Launching a brand-new magazine requires a lot of upfront time and hustle Financial pressure in the beginning, while building relationships and sponsors Steep learning curve when managing sales, production, and community outreach You wear many hats as a publisher — sales, marketing, networking, and leadership Requires thick skin and persistence, especially in the early stages You truly have to embrace the entrepreneurial mindset
