Pros

I worked at Azavar for almost a year, first as an intern and then as a part-time municipal analyst. Every day was a new challenge. I developed valuable skills in areas ranging from law to finance. I was in direct contact with local government officials/utility providers daily. I took on a host of responsibilities and duties immediately (a rare benefit not offered of positions today). Inter-departmental communication/collaboration was strong. Collaboration with co-workers was supportive, and there is a strong sense of office comradery. As a graduate student, I was supported by flexible middle and upper management to put my studies first (another rare quality). For those who negatively reviewed this company, I can only say that any professional environment offers multiple personalities. Some personalities mesh together and some do not. Azavar’s working environment requires proactive, intelligent, and ambitious employees. To be successful at this company, one must be able to learn quickly, work productively, communicate effectively, and think analytically. Overall, I had a great experience working at Azavar. I highly recommend this company to anyone with backgrounds in economics, finance, accounting, public administration, law, or political science.

Cons

It is hard to come up with criticisms against Azavar. This is a good company to work for.

Pros

Azavar has a wonderful work environment that promotes learning and collaboration. There are very few companies that give you the freedom to approach projects in your own unique way. Azavar does just that. Being a smaller company, hard work does not go unrewarded. It is not unheard of to manage your own projects in as little as 8 months. The company provided lunch every Friday which is a nice benefit. There are many opportunities to network with clients at events such as luncheons and various conferences. I highly recommend Azavar to anyone who is willing to work hard and wants to learn.

Cons

I can't think of any downsides to working at Azavar.

Pros

The company has many clients all over Chicago. Culture is humorous.

Cons

There is no direction. You are completely on your own and then yell when something isn't done right. Extremely intimidating environment. The founder asks strange questions in the interview, about your personal character, most of the time it felt like you were being toyed with for some sick amusement. Seemed like it was a chance to work with municipalities, but is really just a glorified data entry job. Middle management is the worse. Rude and will huff and puff at you when you are learning. Middle management will ignore you and give you dirty looks in the morning. It makes working here extremely uncomfortable. I'm very glad that I left and didn't decide to work here full time.

Azavar Audit Solutions Response

I'm sorry you had a negative experience with us. I wish you had come to us with your issues rather than posting them on glassdoor nearly three years after your internship ended. I would point out that you worked for us two days a week for two months which did not give you the opportunity to truly engage in the company. In response to there being no direction, after the training portion we do not micromanage and trust our staff and interns to handle issues on their own. We rely on them to self-identify when they have difficulties with the process. While we work with municipalities, the internship was for a municipal data analyst and the internship was clear that you would be working on data driven projects with the opportunity to meet with municipal leaders and staff at events. The reason we did not have the opportunity to bring you to the municipal events was because the schedules never synced as you were not here the days they were taking place. I hope you have found a job that better suits your desires.
