I worked at Dixons Carphone part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Generally friendly enough staff to work with, can always be nice to actually help a customer whatever you hear about people complaining about serving customers, when there is a nice one it is great. Team leaders were all great, understanding of the position sales reps were in generally as they once were sales reps, same cannot be said for management.

    Cons

Hard to believe for customers but there is no commission, while not a major issue, the fact staff are basically on minimum wage but expected to sell and provide the same service as the likes of Harvey Norman, where there is commission, doesn't help. No training provided to staff, it really is a learn on the job role. Major lack of understanding from management with not knowing the best way to sell products and retain customer satisfaction, many not fully qualified for their roles. Huge disconnect between upper hierarchy of company and the stores, management within stores as stated aren't great and store manager was a pain to work with, but the hierarchy couldn't be anymore disconnected. Sales staff genuinely don't know what the strategy and position of the company is as they have never been told. Working there for a year and met the higher management once, and it seemed to have been the first time most of them were ever in the store. It is a shame as the stores in England seem to actually have a better connection, but not the same for Irish stores.

    Advice to Management

Provide training, give staff a better understanding of the strategic position of the company so they know how they should be selling their products, ensure management know more about the actual sale of goods.

    Cons

The experience for me was ruined due to the so called banter at work place was bad, But this is mainly dependent on the manager and staff.

Ask for a weekly review on your staff about how it is going for them.

I worked at Dixons Carphone part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Competitive Salary for under 18's Some staff are nice 10% discount on most products

    Cons

Management is harsh to push targets to secure their bonus Some customers are hard work You're taught to lie to help up-sell products alongside PC's and TV's The repetitive and time-consuming nature of most sales is debilitating

    Advice to Management

Focus more on customer care and repeat business instead of pushing percentage-based targets on products that most customers don't need/want/use.
