I have been working at County of Clark (NV) full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Salaries, PERS Retirement, Health Insurance

    Cons

Employees are a tool to be used and abused by County Management. Management creates an environment of deceit and disloyalty. A very hostile, corrupt work environment. People only work here so they can leave with retirement. It's like selling your soul to the devil.

    Advice to Management

You have a huge management problem (lack of management) through out the County. Start treating your employees with respect. Clean up the corruption.

I worked at County of Clark (NV)

    Pros

Good health benefits. Generally supportive, helpful work environment. I had an excellent boss (each judge is different, but several of them are like mine, very supportive of their staff and friendly to work with). It's a big building, so there is often some kind of celebration going on (holidays, retirement parties, etc.), which means free food :)

    Cons

Working for the county courts is stressful by its nature because it deals with deadlines, difficult cases, lawyers, and big workloads. This alone is tough, but it also means coworkers will sometimes be stressed out and you have to deal with them, too. The clerks are part of a union and report to their supervisors (not part of the judicial staff), which is kind of an awkward arrangement sometimes because the judge's goals and the supervisors' goals don't always align. Not all departments have a team that works well together.

    Advice to Management

Rethink the clerks' relationship to the judicial staff. When a clerk becomes part of a judicial team, give them more rein to follow the judge's guidelines. Also, give the court clerks a break. Excessive oversight (like requiring clerks to fill out late slips when they are two minutes late) seems to cramp their ability to be effective (and content) in the workplace, and this affects their coworkers, too.

I have been working at County of Clark (NV) full-time

    Pros

Very good benefits, lax work environment. You receive an annual pay increase regardless of performance and sometimes a cost of living increase.

    Cons

Very slow to change and bureaucratic. Change usually only happens because of a new law or a elected official complains. Not a lot of room for advancement.

    Advice to Management

    Innovate, Innovate, Innovate.

I worked at County of Clark (NV) full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Benefits, and hours and weekends off, holidays etc...a plus

    Cons

Toxic and hostile work environment...everyone has an agenda A lot of nepotism in DFS ALOT...at least 25% are related if not more Double standards in policies and what applies to one does not apply to the ones they like or their relatives. Conspiracies happen when they don't like you and management and HR are part of the problem Company has a lot of double standards and not what it stands for -mostly $$$$ motivated not for the children's welfare as they say... If they want you gone they all gang up on you and do things to get rid of you-set you up. DO not give exit interviews to staff who speak honestly and the truth They pick and chose from lists WHO they want in the interview -it is rigged they already know who they want -it's a waste of your time these games they play with peoples lives.

    Advice to Management

Practice what you preach -you go by the do as I say, not as I do motto. You expect good employees but promote the bad ones or the ones you want (mostly friends and relatives).. Your supervisors and managers are just as dishonest yet you want everyone to follow the rules but the rules do NOT apply to those you choose....Get rid of Managers and HR it is a waste of money and time.
