I worked at Compugen (Canada) full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The pros are now harder to identify. CEO is inspirational but management layers below seem to undermine direction as their sole focus seems to be on cost reduction.

    Cons

Long hours, lack of effective process and tools, and "every person for themselves" mentality has now developed. Very little career guidance or opportunities for career growth. Compensation is below market, benefits are minimal, overall company focus is on reducing costs.

    Advice to Management

Commit to growing and developing your people. Put purpose before profit.

I worked at Compugen (Canada) full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Salaries are fairly good Health Care and benefits are good

    Cons

Management is bad, like really bad. We're talking about people who've been at Compugen for 15+ years and whose only professional experience is at Compugen who make decisions that they aren't qualified to make. Any large project will be management-heavy with non-technical Managers, Directors, and Project Managers making horrendous decisions (or no decisions... saying "we need to do X" existentially without actually getting anyone to do anything), until it's time to implement and everything goes sideways, and then the finger-pointing starts. They also like to assign people to projects not based on availability rather than ability. You don't know technology X? No matter, a customer will have an emergency and they'll put you in front of them. If you're in a technical delivery role, working for Compugen is a challenge... and not a pleasant one.

    Advice to Management

Compugen has been working this way since forever, and they are impervious to any amount of advice... but here goes anyhow: If you hire smart people with experience, let them tell you what to do instead of telling them what to do. You are way too management top-heavy with way too little experience in modern technology.
