Pros

The positive can be found once you have left the shackles of this company and realize life has value beyond the constraints of this organization.

Cons

Restrictive environment with attitude that does not foster or allow for personal or professional growth. Extremely restrictive environment. Big brother environment. Manage your breathing and blinking Talk good game but can't walk same or develop beyond their own self-created rosey image. It's a small company wanting to play with big boys and they don't have internal infrastructure to do so. No support at any level - management, HR, tech, etc. None. Nice people but in way over head.

CSE has been on a journey of transformation with new people, new products, new technologies, and new offices that promote collaboration and innovation. We know that change can be challenging, which is why we promote an open door policy to understand employee concerns and incorporate input wherever feasible. A large part of our transformation has been in our Claims Department where leaders encourage best practices and recognize team members for helping our customers. We offer several professional development programs that foster opportunities for employees to grow their careers with CSE. CSE Insurance is proud of its diverse and inclusive environment and its community of good people! Data-centric Industry But Legacy of Inertia Weighs Heavy

Pros

Recent replacement of 90+% of staff executive level down to clerical brings in fresh ideas, energy and skilled professionals to replace a long legacy of nepotistic inertia. The company has a very loyal distribution channel seemingly highly tolerant and forgiving of technology shortcomings. The offices are modern and fresh in appearance.

Cons

A deep legacy of lacking data standards, software architecture standards and unclear brand and strategic direction coupled with zero investment in skills development make for high level of trouble-shooting and damage control. Championing wholly new products, business process re-engineering, business intelligence and other high-demand initiatives compete for already drained or non-existent resources. Annual pay increases of 1.2 to maybe 2% lag far behind industry salary levels. Moreover, tuition reimbursement is a figment of the imagination.

Pros

Modern office equipment and working environment. Team members are all experienced claims professionals, so they are understanding and willing to work together.

Cons

Management is completely incompetent and out of touch with their employees. LOTS of turnover- LOVES to hire temps rather than invest in a quality team with enough team members to support the workload. Like others have stated, easily expects you to complete an average workload of a 12-14 hour day EVERYDAY including weekends. While being salaried is nice, it doesn't compensate for the workload expected. No pay increases, bonuses, or other incentives. My specific manager was an EXTREME micro manager who consistently worked 12+ hour days strictly critiquing the team members' work rather than providing any constructive criticism or actual assistance. Having a consistent diary of 180-200 claims, she expected every file to be worked at least every other day and sometimes even multiple times per day, even when there was nothing to be done in the file. No authority to make any decisions in the files and constant need to submit things to management. WAY TOO MANY MEETINGS! While I appreciated upper management wanting to be transparent with the claims department, the amount of time spent sitting in a meeting room was completely unnecessary and down right ridiculous.

We are sorry to hear that this was your experience while working for CSE. Turnover in every claims department is a challenge, and we continue to work on mitigating the risk to our employees' work-life balance by staying fully staffed as well as utilizing a TPA for work overflow. We want to encourage all employees to speak up when struggling with any challenges they face during their work day. Our goal is to make our employees feel valued and for CSE to be fully transparent to employees at all times. The feedback is appreciated, and we wish this former employee all the best in future endeavors.
