I have been working at Celgene full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Autonomy and dynamic pace make Celgene an entrepreneurial place. Plenty of opportunity to contribute.

    Cons

A bit chaotic. Very busy life, and a lot to do, but neither strategy nor process is clear.

    Advice to Management

Develop from within, rather than bring in peo Le from outside. You build loyalty this way, loyalty to the company rather than to a single person. Promoting from within to balance gender representation will also provide opportunities to women down in the ranks. People who come up the ranks also know the ropes better and will not impose what they are used to from their previous jobs. PLEASE don’t fill high positions by hiring from outside without searching from within, first.

I have been working at Celgene full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent benefits, time off, unlimited sick time, ramped improvements for paternity leave for up to 12 weeks. Flexible summer hours and possible opportunities depending on where you are at.

    Cons

Poor management, favortism, and certainly nepotism, especially in my department. Some
questionable choices by management and it shows as stock prices have not peaked past $80 in awhile, where as, it was $140 back 9 months ago when I first got my equity sign on bonus. In additon, very poorly organized and high expectations are expected despite working with very difficult team members, who have big egos, poor social equites, and are total slobs. Having a PhD doesn’t give you the right to leave your mess for the lower people to clean up. We are all busy.

    Advice to Management

Avoid nepotism, since it really becomes discouraging to other team members. Have better management, who actually don’t host fake events to make it look like a team just for show. Look out for people on the associate levels and consider introducing a pension program. Why not? Company is producing twenty billion dollars and more in revenue with a positive high pipeline to come in the coming years. Consider shutting down the week of Christimas.

I worked at Celgene full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great pay, benefits and people. Lots of smart hard working people who really do not need micro management.

    Cons

Many sub cultures and organizational silos.

    Advice to Management

    Simplify, unify and standardize.

    Pros

Pipeline is promising if they can pull it off. Those coming in now may be financially rewarded if there is success. Culture of bringing in at higher levels from the outside so if you join new there is opportunity.

    Cons

Alles just figured out that management has to manage to avoid disasters like the FDA failure to file letter. Employees who have been there for more than five years have all option grants underwater, everything granted since 2012 is worthless, motivation shot. Company President, General Counsel, Business Development leadership, more, all gone. Stockholders meeting a joke, Board obviously did not care.

I have been working at Celgene full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    The pipeline has some potential

    Cons

We were a lucky and fortunate company with Revlimid. During those fat years, however, we got cocky and never invested in hiring great people, and didn’t work on strategy. The few good talent we had left a while back. What remains at the top is a talentless, bureaucratic, myopic group of people with giant egos. They don’t listen, don’t acknowledge mistakes made and continue to think that change is not needed.

    Pros

Get to work and help people with life altering diseases.

    Cons

New leadership in HR and Operations have lost site of the staff below them. Management has made questionable decisions which has caused the stock price and total compensation to plummet. A lot of people are jumping ship...
