I have been working at Celgene full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Produce many products that improve a patient's life
    Pays very well

    Cons

Promotions / new job opportunities are not based on experience / education as it is your perception.

    Advice to Management

Promote more people from within. Less weight on a perception and more on actual skills, knowledge, and experience.

I have been working at Celgene full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Extremely talented colleagues willing to train and support new hires, which fosters a sense that you are truly part of a team. Well defined processes in a collegial work environment. Room to grow your career. Good financial incentives that motivate people to work hard since everyone has a stake in the outcome

    Cons

Some valuable employees stuck in contractor positions when they really deserve to be part of the team. Medical and dental benefits could be a little better, but ok.

I have been working at Celgene full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Stock option. RSU. 401(K) match is similar to any other pharma but in form of com stock. generous health care, prescription drug benefit.

    Cons

Recent 2 years, the company was undergoing tremendous culture change. The management team should know it and prob heard old folks talking quite a bit. In one sentence, Celg is more like 2 big pharma at Kenilworth, NJ (both 10 yr ago and now) rather than a biotech at Summit, NJ 10 yr ago. Go figure out who they are!

    Advice to Management

Keep the old Celg momentum. Keep the "Can Do" attitude rather than big pharma's red tape. When you have 30% people working in lab, not promoted and the rest 70% in office, promoted every 2 years, you know what direction the com is going to.

I have been working at Celgene full-time

    Pros

Generally people are very nice, lots of site events and friendships formed. Small company feel, lots of freedom and visibility. Lots of learning opportunities for driven people. Good work life balance. Nice facilities and resources.

    Cons

Pay is below market. A small number of deadwood employees and (just a few) nasty managers are tolerated. Pace can be slow. Cambridge site does not always feel well integrated in the wider company strategy.

    Advice to Management

Inject some energy and hunger into the site, cull the deadwood and jerks. Connect site better with rest of Celgene. Pay people more to have better retention of your stars.

    Pros

Very good Salary & Stock Options Compensation Package, although in past 12-18 months stock options are become more competitive to acquire.

    Cons

Org Structure can make it challenging to get things accomplished.
Feel like a number, rather than asset to company at times.

    Advice to Management

Provide more opportunities for career development, training of employees & promote from within.
