      Pros

I worked there for nearly 4 months. No lie in the beginning i was enjoying it during the training period and the 2-3 weeks after the training but they said they had to send us home after training and grad bi week. I told them i can’t work from home as i had personal issues but they denied it but the worst thing was the hours. 10-7/10-8 every day for 5 days a week were so much to deal with as there was no social life. It was so hard to even take a day off which we had to book in advance from our annual leave:/ no flexibility and have to take back to back calls. Money was good but not worth it for me as it was affecting my mental health. I guess people that enjoy talking to people on the phone and don’t mind long hours would be able to do it. Also DID NOT GET PAID FOR THE FINAL WEEK I WORKED!!! I’m still trying to chase them up for it:/

      Cons

you work out the daily norm is ok. Employee experience is important, workplace culture - medium other aspects of the work were not evaluated - short work period

It will do if you _need_ a job, but view it as a stepping stone to a proper job and not a career.

      Pros

Made some good friends Working from home Free parking, tea and coffee (If you ever see the office, that is. $$$$$$$$)

      Cons

Senior management are clueless. Decisions are based on spreadsheet numbers. Every single task you do is to be logged on a rudimentary system so that said senior management can see your work output as a percent. The harder you work the more they come to expect and it will get to a point where your daily target is 130% or more. Progression comes from not what you know but who you know. Brown nose here and you will go far, that's assuming the jobsworths occupying the management roles vacate those positions for you. Operations roles are literally more valued than any Financial roles as demonstrated in a company wide payrise that snubbed everyone in Finance. If you get a choice, go for an Ops role. You are a number here. The only acknowledgement you will get is if you do something wrong. Actual competent staff are allowed to leave and will be replaced with anyone off the street.

      Pros

Literally none apart from being able to work from home

      Cons

Poor management - they don't do anything or solve any issues. They serve no purpose. Some are not trained in certain call streams so are useless. Poor background team - Introduced a new service to scan prescriptions for payment but it didn't work properly. Had to take brunt of calls relating to this and nobody ever sorted it. Poor IT systems - very slow and sometimes unable to find forms submitted via medical professionals. Poor training - a few powerpoint presentations and then thrown immediately onto calls. Micromanaged to death - all your breaks are timed and you're in trouble if you arrive back one minute late. Toilet breaks are also monitored. Unrealistic targets - expect you to take back-to-back calls all day to maintain wrap target and average handling time of 5 mins. Poor wage

      Pros

Work from home, autonomous, some great experienced individual perspectives and talent. All travel, accommodation and expenses covered which improves base salary headline. Working hard on equality and diversity.

      Cons

Just a number. Profit is everything and billing is obsessive. Internal functions are appalling in some areas. People are not developed properly, bonuses and pay rises non existent or not in line with industries.

      Pros

Work from home. Supportive team manager Part time hours available CPD Good salary No shift work Learn a lot Keyboard skills will improve!

      Cons

Takes at least 6-12 months to shorten the time to write reports for your work life balance to settle. You always work more hours than you get paid but it does improve. Expected to work with all specialities regardless of what part of the register you are on. CPD training is provided but this is not as good as NMC training, assessment and registration on appropriate part of nursing register. High staff turn over Continuous auditing with often contradictory feed back. Verbal abuse from claimants is more common than in other nursing roles. Level of complaints from claimants is higher than with other nursing roles, usually when they find out the award was unsatisfactory to them. It’s a difficult role but it does suit some people.

Many thanks for your review and your valid points. Recruitment of highly-specialised skills is a constant challenge, but we are always looking at initiatives to attract those that you have mentioned into our roles.

Good stepping stone but not for the long term

14 Aug 2021 - Pension Administrator in Darlington, England
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      • Capita (particularly Capita Pension Solutions) is great for people with little to no experience, looking to getting a start in financial services/pensions, as they were willing to invest in me at the start of my journey, but other colleagues have reported different experiences. •Working from home flexibility (post covid) •Flexi-time (at least at the Darlington office) •Colleagues generally cared and worked hard to acheive collective goals. •The work was challenging and varied, which I enjoyed.

      Cons

Unfortunately, job stagnation kicked in for me and found little no room for progression. When I tried to move, I found promotions were mostly based on nepotism as opposed to merit. Largely felt like a number and a cog in a machine (this was echo'd by colleagues too). Salaries are very poor too, which I found out when I moved to a competitor.
