    Pros

Good salary for a non-profit; A good sense of helping to save lives; Strong teamwork

I worked at Canadian Blood Services full-time

    Pros

work life balance, colleagues, interesting work, no micro-management, flexible schedule, many sick days, 20 vacation days, good salary, safe job to a certain extent (see cons), work remote

    Cons

if your skills are no longer required because of some technology shift, they will lay you off if you don't have seniority, which is understandable, any organization would do the same, nothing personal (last in, first out). it's better to hire someone who already has the experience rather than train everyone on the job. having said that I'd go back in a heartbeat, i don't know whether they'd accept me though :) "buddy, you left once, no guarantee you wouldn't do it again so why take chances again with you, there are so many people out there who'd like to work for us"

I worked at Canadian Blood Services full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Never have to question the reason for going to work: had a direct opportunity to affect collections of blood and blood products to help patients in need.

    Cons

The structure of the organization changed almost constantly: three major reorganizations in less than 5 years to address efficiency. Some changes worked, others... not so much. Made for a difficult work environment as many positions were eliminated and work culture was not ideal as a result.

    Pros

Drab offices and facilities. While some tech is very new, you can be stuck working with very old legacy software from 20 years ago
