I have been working at Boston Scientific full-time

    Pros

    set hours, good work-life balance

    Cons

you need to be family of someone high up to get any promotion or even move to lab. As an agency employee you get very little. if you have kids they cant go to the xmas party

    Advice to Management

review education and experience of our employees as so many people are left on the line and no interest with regards to their degree.

I worked at Boston Scientific for less than a year

    Pros

Culture is one of accountability and encouragement. Work life balance was good.

    Cons

Multi-nation teams mean time delay and lag. Some suggestions not taken seriously enough. Some people were swapped to other teams while simultaneously still supporting another team. This meant chasing down people who were the subject experts and trying to find time to meet.

I have been working at Boston Scientific full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

healthcare, yearly bonus, subsidised canteen. pay is ok if you are single, young and have no overheads like a mortgage. hours are ok and work life balance not bad if you can afford not to do overtime. unrecognised union but they have achieved substantial changes to the system that was currently in place in regards pay and conditions.

    Cons

starting pay of €22.5k is very low for someone with family/mortgage etc. this goes up €500 per year until it reaches €27.5k. overtime has gone down a lot recently meaning people may struggle financially. very hard to get a promotion unless you go back to college and get a qualification and even at that it's who you know not what you know.

    Advice to Management

A lot of operators would like the chance to further their careers but some have not been in the classroom for many years and may feel overwhelmed at the idea. If the company ran some basic courses like ECDL or simplified project management courses for people it may help everyone. The starting rate of €22.5k is not comparable to the industry that we are in. Its ok if you work in 'ordinary' factories but not in a plant that makes life saving devices. the starting rate should be €27.5k. The voice team is a joke. its management led and driven by management. operators have little say on what decisions are made or input into how these decisions affect operator lives/morale. you mightn't like the union but at least they listened to people when they needed them and a bit of cross table discussion with them might not be a bad thing for everyone involved
