I worked at Boston Scientific full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Product and training Lots of activities to keep us engaging

    Cons

Politics, Lower management is pathetic, Upper management does not care if an employee leaves. They just run behind sales and has no respect and value for hard work. Retention of people is very poor.

    Advice to Management

Try to have one on one session with the employees. Don't just take feedbacks, act on them. Work towards retaining the Talent.

I worked at Boston Scientific full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Fun and interesting employees, good benefits (holidays, vacation, med, dental, etc.). Adequate facilities/sites. Good quality products with a few acquired outliers that make a good difference in peoples' lives.

    Cons

Only lip-service to quality, and lack of understanding and seriousness regarding compliance with regulations. Middle-management fiddles while Rome burns, and upper-management accepts the sterilized data they're given. No room for excellent, experienced workers who understand the company and the industry, and they are systematically and periodically let go in waves of layoffs every year. Experienced workers are... traded up for inexperienced workers at all professional levels/areas without the experience and history to call out their superiors' incompetence, and decision-making is based on cronyism. Business-as-usual is the mantra, and as is typical of large businesses since 2008 they are more interested in squeezing more hours and effort out of current employees to expand profits and bonuses than improving systems/processes or hiring additional workers for expansion.

    Advice to Management

Remove all current management at the site level and bring in fresh blood with a focus on reality and the ability to prioritize to drive the business forward with innovation. This should have happened when the Warning Letter hit in 2005. Instead, the Directors that held on waited until the Warning Letter was lifted to push the company back to the brink of dangerous, non-compliant territory.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Boston Scientific full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good work life balance. But it's the only pro. I do like my team, but they are leaving one by one.

    Cons

Only promote those in the 'inner circle'. A person's experience or expertise has no bearing. In many cases, upper management 'leadership' has no expertise and no experience in the job. Intimidation from other groups who don't want to follow regs. No support from upper management.

    Advice to Management

You must support your people! Hold people accountable.

I worked at Boston Scientific for less than a year

    Pros

    1. Was able to gain a large amount of experience 2. Lots of prototype & design work was offered 3. One of the best reputations in the biomedical field

    Cons

    1. What you'll be able to accomplish is hit or miss depending on project timing and the projects management 2. Seemed to be a rift between programs and upper management 3. Seemed the only way to get promoted was to leave the company and return 1-2 years later

    Advice to Management

Look to the talent that you already have before looking outside.
