I worked at Baker Hughes full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good exposure to oil and gas domain.

    Cons

    1) Senior management and local management at Cochin is a disaster. Favoritism and bringing in their cronies really deflates the motivation of the workers. Its a corrupt management.Dynamic employees are being lead by spineless management and director.False promises are made by the management regarding the career of the employees. They lack basic skills to lead 2) Total chaotic situation. 3) Company is pathetic for overall career advancement 4) Every hook and crook will be promoted as Managers 5) Absolutely NO JOB SECURITY.Growth opportunities are negligible 6) Conservative, gossips, not more open obsolete experience 7) Pathetic HR People. There is a long list of poor policies and HR management. HR with double standards. Does best to demotivate employees. 8) Unexpected layoffs during pandemic. Good employees have terminated without any notice from Kochi office. If you need proper sleep, avoid Baker Hughes, especially Kochi office.

"How does Baker Hughes executive team sleep at night?"

    1.0
Current Employee - Lead Engineer in Cochin
    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Baker Hughes full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Baker Hughes was a great place to work for a long time, but it turns out the old saying "all good things must end" is very true here.

    Cons

Baker Hughes brand is trash. They told us every day "we are fine" "you don't have to worry about us cutting jobs" then one morning we all get a random meeting on our calendars, the Manager from Mumbai tells us this was unavoidable and we are laying off 100 people (From 50+ from Cochin and 10+ from Mumbai), then he answers absolutely NO questions about the layoff, ends the call leaving everyone waiting 20 mins to find out if they have a job or not. Schizophrenic and short-sighted management with unrealistic goals and poor knowledge of the product.Complete lack of accountability for executives.Politics, politics, politics! from the incompetent Mangers here.Mid Management who in this economy can't get another job and stays here and living off their base, because they never hit targets. Ego's from the top down who can't acknowledge they have the wrong plan.No transparency from upper management. Immature, volatile leadership that's exclusively white male bros who claim to "be awesome with people" but do not seem to understand what that means. Horrible upper management and leadership. Several different executives brought in to try and fix things, but only worse, have gone through countless product leaders. Immaturity and lack of professionalism across the organization. In short at Cochin location, we have a pathetic management with an HR who is not doing her job. Lets wait and see the fate of one of world's great organization due to lack of good leadership and human resource management.

"Too WORST company and I wanna give ZERO rating but not possible"

    1.0

    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Baker Hughes full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Brand name, Legacy company, open source, exposure to some good technical tools, Work from home.

    Cons

Everything is worst in this company The management and HR team will play very cheap tricks from last two years the company fired so many employees.Managers (Technical project managers, Mangers, Skill Pool Managers, Product Development Managers, Managers) are Pathetic at Cochin locations.Zero job security, negative environment, if you join it you have to live in continuously fear of firing. they fire any time, but the main firing season starts from May in Cochin location.Sick Management hierarchy and they takes things personally, No professionalism, Bad politics. Inefficient management in Cochin and Mumbai and unaware of market trend and lacking vision.Work culture is worst in this company.Senior Management, hires and dumps employees. Doesn't listen to employee's growth. Management is so worst and many layers exist. There is no value/contribution of those managers and directors. High attrition, if people are not boot lickers they are bullied to leave. Can be fire at any time, with reason such as position not available with company, after 6 month of serving.Manager behaves like head master of government school. Cochin management is the absolute worst who only know how to harass employees to get work done. The employee morale is so abysmal, there is not even a single employee who hasn't raised escalations to HR. Lot of employees have quit and the rest, unable to bear the torture, approach the HR or contact the labor department. Never have I witnessed so much involvement from HR w.r.t employees and management. Managers and employees shouting and swearing has become common and HR just seem to have given up. This place is just waiting to blow up.There is no HR policy/Connect: you only meet HR once i.e. at the time of induction. HR in Cochin lacks professionalism, very bad attitude (need some counselling), very mean, rude, always deals with some personal agenda.

    "DON'T SPOIL YOUR CAREER"

    1.0
Current Employee - Lead Software Engineer in Cochin
    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Baker Hughes full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

No dress code, free snacks, tours, team lunch, cab service, good infrastructure.

    Cons

"Our industry does not respect tradition - it only respects innovation." - Satya Nadella said. But here in Baker Hughes, Cochin office, the quote is something like this. "OUR INDUSTRY DOES NOT RESPECT INDIVIDUAL AND THEIR TECHNICAL SKILLS, IT ONLY RESPECT THEIR IDIOT MANAGERS & ARCHITECTS". This is exactly happening in all locations of Baker Hughes. Some idiot managers are destroying good technical employees career like throwing a cricket ball. The managers here are highly not recommendable and know only speaking English, MS office/excel, spreading gossips within office, making panic within the team. I really think why a software development teams need a worthless Managers who not even know ABC of software engineering. There should be Technical Managers having good technical skills in any IT organization who can understand a technical person conveys. HR in Cochin is one of the most irritated with attitude problems, not an employees HR but her Manager's HR. Never listen the voice of employee. HR is a utter waste here.

    Cons

Baker Hughes GEC India Pune, recruited me 7 months back and laidoff immediately. Worst management ever seen in my entire career, don't have any vision. They spoiled career of many employees who not even completed 6 months. And still few managers are laying of honest and hard-working engineers to save their jobs. Strongly recommending not to join at all Baker Hughes. They hired you to just fired in no time. Worst company seen in India. All core values are false..Whole OFS pune will be closing soon and many will loose their jobs.
